When I was six years old, my mom came home with a horse named Mariah 🐎 Bold, beautiful, and stubborn so she fit right into our family 😁
We were so lucky to have her just across the street from my childhood home, Evergreen Hall on Bowen Island. I grew up climbing trees in the horse fields, skipping rocks at the beach, and spending long summer days at the rope swing on Trout Lake.
I remember the big dreams that fearless little girl had… and every time I saddle up again, they whisper to me in the wind:
“I could do it all… and so I will.” 🤩
This year around the sun showed me just how far I can be pushed without breaking. It showed me the kind of people I want to be around, and the kind of stories I want to tell.
I know I’m not perfect. I am brutally and beautifully flawed, but every day I learn to love those wounds a little more.
Every day, the “I” in imposter syndrome drifts farther away… until all that is left is a syndrome - the syndrome of a dreamer.
A dreamer who accepts that she will always be changing.
And that’s not something to healed, fixed, accepted or even understood.
It’s a gift.
One that’s meant to be shared with those still finding their way. Because sometimes the only way forward is back.
Back to the fearless little girl who always knew 🫶🏼
