Yesterday, as I walked into the Magic Castle, I came across this. And I have to admit, it stopped me.

Juan was much more than one of the greatest magicians of all time to me. I had the privilege of knowing him personally, of spending time with him, and of learning so much from him, about magic, of course, but also about the way we think, feel and live this art and life itself.

Seeing his photograph there, at the entrance of a place that means so much to magic and to me personally, moved me more than I expected.

Thank you, The Magic Castle , for remembering him this way. For giving everyone who walks through those doors a moment to stop, look at his face, and remember what Juan gave to magic.

There will never be another Juan Tamariz.

Ayer, al entrar en el Magic Castle, me encontré con esto. Y tengo que reconocer que me quedé congelado.

Para mí, Juan fue mucho más que uno de los grandes magos de todos los tiempos. Tuve el privilegio de conocerlo personalmente, de compartir tiempo con él y de aprender muchísimo a su lado. Sobre magia, por supuesto, pero también sobre la manera de pensar, de sentir y de vivir este arte, y la vida.

Ver ayer su fotografía allí, a la entrada de un lugar que significa tanto para la magia y también para mí personalmente, me emocionó mucho más de lo que esperaba.

Gracias al Magic Castle por recordarlo de esta manera. Por hacer que todos los que atraviesen esas puertas puedan detenerse un momento, mirar su rostro y recordar todo lo que Juan le dio a la magia.

Nunca habrá otro Juan Tamariz.

A little behind-the-scenes from Masters of Illusion! 🎥🃏

I recently had the chance to step in front of the cameras and record several of my favorite pieces of magic for the show.

It was a long, intense and incredibly fun day of shooting, and I have a feeling we captured some really special moments. Now I just have to hope they survive the editing room! 😂

If they do, I honestly can’t wait for you all to see them when they air.

A huge thank you to Gay Blackstone, David Martin, and the entire Masters of Illusion team. The amount of work, precision and professionalism behind a television production like this is extraordinary, and they somehow manage to make the whole experience fun at the same time.

It was a real pleasure to be part of it.

Now… fingers crossed I make it onto television! 🤞📺

Two weeks at the Magic Castle, and somehow I always find myself stopping here.

Vernon’s corner.

A small place filled with an enormous amount of history. Every time I pass it, I think about how much of what we do today was shaped by the conversations, ideas, arguments, experiments, and countless hours spent around a deck of cards by Vernon and the magicians who surrounded him.

After performing at the Magic Castle, I’m grateful for the shows, the audiences, the late-night sessions, the old friends, the new ones, and all those conversations about magic that seem to happen only at the Castle.

The Professor used to say, “Be natural.”

Two words. A lifetime of work.

Some lessons in magic are taught. Others are passed on.

I’ve learned so much from Howard Hamburg over the years, and I’m still learning every time we sit down together. Not only about cards, technique, or construction, but about the people, the thinking, and the history behind the magic we love.

After so many years of friendship, one of my favorite things is still listening to Howard’s stories. And this week, there were plenty.

One in particular made me smile.

Howard told me how Jimmy Grippo once “carelessly” left his jacket on a chair before going to the restroom, knowing Dai Vernon was nearby. Inside the jacket, Grippo had deliberately left a gazapo — a false explanation of one of his tricks — hoping Vernon would take the bait and discover exactly what Grippo wanted him to discover.

That story says so much about that generation of magicians: the secrets, the psychology, the misdirection… sometimes even between magicians.

Moments like these remind me that magic isn’t only preserved in books or tricks. It lives in conversations, friendships, stories, and in the generosity of those who were there.

Thank you, Howard, for everything you’ve taught me, everything you continue to teach me, and, above all, for so many years of friendship. ❤️

Still listening. Still learning. Still fascinated.

Every time I walk through these doors, I remember why I fell in love with magic.

Another unforgettable week at the Magic Castle.

Great performances, inspiring conversations, unforgettable nights, and the privilege of sharing time with some of the finest magicians in the world.

Thank you to everyone who made this week so special. Moments like these remind me that magic is much more than tricks, it’s the people, the friendships, and the memories we create together.

Huge thank you to Melody Robusto, Jack Goldfinger John Lovick and the whole team at the castle for your support and insights this week to help my magic shines as brighter as possible.
