As the dust settles from this year’s KW Pet Expo, I wanted to take a moment to recognize two outstanding students who played a key role in making the show a success.

Autumn, an Event Management student, and Maria Teresa, from the Public Relations program at Conestoga College, recently completed their field placement term with KW Expo Productions. Throughout their placement, they contributed meaningfully to the planning, coordination, and ex*****on of the KW Pet Expo — and we couldn't have asked for a better team to help bring the event to life.

To celebrate both the success of the show and the completion of their programs, we enjoyed a well-deserved brunch at Langdon Hall. We reflected on what went well, shared ideas on how to refine and improve next year’s show, and celebrated the victories—big and small—that made this year’s return so special.

It’s inspiring to work alongside such bright, motivated students, and I’m excited to see where their careers take them next.

Resilience isn’t just about surviving life’s toughest moments, but about finding the strength to keep moving forward, even when everything seems to fall apart. In this article, I share a personal story of grief, recovery, and rediscovering hope after unimaginable loss. Life threw me unexpected challenges, including the sudden loss of my son, and later, the global pandemic that forced us all to slow down. Through this journey, I learned that resilience is not about ‘getting over’ hardship—it’s about finding ways to heal and keep going, even when it feels impossible. My hope is that this story inspires others facing adversity to take one step at a time, embrace the healing process, and trust that the strength to keep going is within them.

There was a time in my life when I was so focused on the path I had set for myself, I could see nothing else. Every morning, I would wake up, ready to conquer the day—strategically planning, working hard, and staying on track toward my goals.
