Band Spotlight:
Idle Lane embodies the feeling of holding the past close to your heart while embracing the promise of an exciting tomorrow. The Vancouver Island-based quartet channel a stream of influences from the ‘70s and ‘90s and use robust dual guitar attacks and explosive melodic phrasing to deliver a cocktail of honest songwriting. Since forming in 2021, they have released one album, three EPs and multiple stand-alone singles. Their sophomore album, “Pedestal”, will be released in July of 2025.

Idle Lane has performed on notable stages across BC, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. Their most noteworthy local shows include “FernFest 2022”, “Rifflandia 2023”, and “Bands on the Roof 2024.” They have recorded the majority of their catalogue at Burning Rainbow Studio with Neil James Cooke-Dallin. Their EP, “Like a Zipper,” was recorded with Justin LaPointe at Barnhouse Sound, and they’ve also done a lot of tracking at home.

Idle Lane looks forward to the release of “Pedestal” and to continuing to write, record, and release music that intoxicates them and makes them feel.

🏳️‍🌈 Festival Opener Announcement: Julie Parrell 🏳️‍🌈

Julie Parrell (she/they) is a Q***r Two Spirited Métis Person who was born on the lands of the Esquimalt and Songhees people and raised on their Métis homelands of Treaty 1.
She has spent the last 18 years living on the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations.
She is forever grateful to these nations for being so welcoming and sharing with her – a guest on stolen land. She is especially thankful for the traditional practices that have kept these lands beautiful since time immemorial.
Julie wears many hats in her community. She is a writer, a performer, a provocateur, a gardener and a medicine person. She is always using her voice for justice and believes all beings from here to P@lestine deserve to know freedom, joy and peace.
Julie is so inspired by this market, this community of Q***rs, coming together to celebrate! We’ve come a long way!! She looks forward to all the joy and connection this day will bring.

Dan is a Victoria-based singer/songwriter blending folk and blues influences with heartfelt storytelling. Drawing from personal journal entries and lived experiences, his songs reflect on love, heartbreak, self doubt and personal growth. After years away from performing, the move west reignited his passion—leading to the release of his debut solo EP earlier this year.
