I started my canning today with a big cry. I'm reminded of my friend Carie during canning season. We'd fill the kitchen with all kinds of fruits, veggies, vinegar, herbs and spices. It smelled delicious for days. We'd laugh and argue over whose recipes and techniques were better - 'You have to boil the jars first!' was always the big fight 🤣. Often we'd get pickled while we pickled, mess up the recipe and return to the kitchen to fix it the next day (neither of us in the mood to stand over boiling hot pots). It's little moments like this that bring me such happiness but also gut-wrenching sadness. I miss you in my kitchen, my friend. The pickled beans will be your recipe this year... maybe 😘😘
