The 11th annual Victoria International Jewish Film Festival in just one week away! The stories being shared portray the diversity of the Jewish experience (and have the power to resonate with everyone). There will be seven unique film events with music, nosh, and special guests, plus a community conversation event hosted at a local cafe, and the highschool outreach event! Thank you to the volunteer committee members, public funders, private donors, and local partners. Planning this festival is a pleasure and an honour. It has its challenges, but creating a space and opportunity to bring so many different people together makes it all worth it. See you at the movies!

A few days after our ceremony at Mile Zero in Victoria, where Elliot & I first found each other, we celebrated “the event of us” with our friends and family at a jazz club on College Street in downtown Toronto!

It’s almost time for the 10th annual VIJFF! Directing this festival rewards me on so many levels - personally, creatively, and professionally. This year there will be movies, music, and nosh, plus a 10 year celebration reception, schmooze limo, totally full highschool event, fun prizes for Hillel/Uvic students, a weekend movie rated PG so the older can bring the younger, and a conversation with 2 directors. The most amazing part — it’s all free. Thank you to all the volunteer committee members, public funders, private donors, and local partners. Organizing this festival is a way of bringing people of all backgrounds together. It’s a pleasure and an honour. See you at the movies!

I’m back in Victoria after a month in Vietnam, and all inspired to start working on events! My travels concluded with my cousin’s wedding in Hanoi. This photo is from the traditional tea/‘asking’ ceremony which takes place at the bride’s house. Hanoi, like many other Vietnamese cities, are labyrinths with countless alleys. This house was in one of those alleys.
