One of my most frequently asked questions, as a wedding photographer, isn't about photography at all. It's "where do you want to sit during dinner?" so I'm breaking down WHERE and WHEN your wedding photography & Videography teams should eat during your wedding reception for us to do our best work to document your best night ever. 🥂💃

I'm Ben, a Kitchener-Waterloo wedding photographer who specializes in creating a fun and relaxed wedding photography experience so you won't have to worry about feeling awkward. Follow for more helpful wedding planning tips.

A bride covered in insects?! Honestly it wasn't in my bingo card, but man was it a cool thing to photograph! Brianna was loving getting to meet some "cute" (in her words) creatures before her wedding at . David wasn't quite as keen on the critters but was a good sport through the whole encounter.

!! Trigger Warning: Stunning Bride + Cool Critters !! 🪳

Not certain this will be the hot new wedding trend, but Brianna & David’s "insect encounter" is easily a new favourite wedding first for me. Talk about a bride who is truly in her element!

We spent the evening exploring the lush greenery of , from a tear-jerking ceremony led by Neil at to a butterfly release that felt like total magic.

Huge thanks to the dream team:

Natural-looking wedding portraits don't just happen. In reality, it takes a skilled photographer giving intentional guidance to move through the awkwardness of the beginning of a portrait session.

I hate cheesy overly-posed wedding photos as much as you do. I love a candid moment, but it's not always as simple as standing back and waiting for the couple to create a picture-perfect moment on their own. I'm right there with you to set the tone, calm your nerves, and give you confidence that you're doing great.

The first 10 minutes might feel like a lot of direction, but it's all building to the photos that feel like they just happened organically. Watch the shift in this clip. It starts with technical adjustments to genuine laughter and connection. Through pop-up-video style captions, I break down all of the intentions in my guidance that let me create magic. If you can enjoy your portrait session and leave with photos that look like you, I've done my job.

I love photographing weddings, but there's something special about an engagement session. There's no tight timeline, no family expectations to manage, no worries about keeping your clothes, hair and makeup pristine. Engagement sessions are all about good vibes and spending an hour connecting with your favourite human. Tameika & Sara are lovers of all things nature, camping and canoeing, so it felt right to spend their session connecting with nature as well as each other. Can't wait for their wedding in September at 😍

Jessica & Josh’s sunny October wedding at Elle by Stella was such a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do. Weddings, like life, doesn't always go to plan. In this case, morning prep took longer than expected. It's a situation where newbie wedding vendors might panic and get flustered. Thankfully, J&J booked a stellar vendor team who knows how to overcome unexpected changes.

One of the things I tell my couples is that a wedding timeline is just a guide. When things unexpectedly shift, we adapt with grace, and guests would never know the difference. We seamlessly moved couple's portraits to cocktail hour, and the lower sun ended up giving us the most incredible, romantic golden glow. Silver... or should I say golden linings.

Jessica & Josh walked down the aisle to the most beautiful harp music, exchanged touching vows that inspired more than a few tears among guests, and hosted a gathering steeped in joy and celebration.

I can't speak highly enough of the incredible vendors who knew how to adapt and pivot. Elle by Stella truly never misses. The outdoor ceremony space is so peaceful, with the river and waterfall providing a backdrop that really needs no extra help. Nathan Grieve pulled some strings at the last minute to make sure everything was ready to go, then brought his usual humorous energy to the ceremony, and Nitro Music kept the good vibes going all night. Being part of a group of vendors who saved the day, and made wedding dreams come true is an honour and makes this job so meaningful to me. Congrats Jessica & Josh 🥂

Celebrating my in-laws' 50th anniversary taught me a lot about love, family and building a life together. It taught me to appreciate the big days and the mundane moments. It also allowed me to feel something I've always known in an abstract sense. Your wedding photos are for you now, but they're also for a room full of your loved ones celebrating your love, 50 years from now. When I put my full heart into capturing your joyful moments and deep connections, THIS is my why. Happy 50th Tim & Thelma ❤️
