📣 IMPROV CLASS FOR ADULTS WITH ANDREW MORRISEY 📣

August 10-13 | 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM | $150 + HST

Call our Box Office at (902) 897-4004 to register!

Two summers ago - after several parents of theatre camp students asked enthusiastically “What about improv classes for adults?!”, Andrew Morrisey decided to construct and host one of his own. The class quickly filled up! Attendees had a blast playing games, trying new things and laughing non-stop through each session. Now, the class is coming to the Marigold by popular demand!

The first three classes will focus on learning Improv 101, working with one another, creating fun scenes and exciting characters. The fourth class will culminate with a showcase for invited friends and family.

This is great for fans of “Whose Line is It Anyway?”, and for folks who are looking to try something new, step out of their comfort zone and discover more creativity within themselves. Register soon because space is limited!

Andrew Morrisey is an actor and teacher based in New York City. He has performed Off-Broadway and was recently nominated for a META for Outstanding Lead Performance in the new musical, Resurrection at the Centaur Theatre in Montreal. He operates a busy voice studio with students of all ages that range from industry professionals to karaoke enthusiasts. This summer, he will lead seven weeks of theatre camps for young actors across Nova Scotia. Andrew will conclude the summer with his 19th summer back at the Marigold.

Yesterday our Executive Director André Myette had the honour of being invited to the House of Commons in Ottawa to testify before committee on the state of creative and performance spaces in Canada.

As a representative of The Marigold Cultural Centre he reported it was a true privilege to speak for our theatre but also all artists and presenters in our beautiful province of Nova Scotia. The other witnesses were phenomenal and gave amazing insight into some truly creative ideas coming from our sector. If you happened to be watching CPAC you may have noticed a familiar face!

Next week, Blackwood Trio will be gracing the Marigold stage for a show that will be like no other. As a trio, they explore contemporary jazz and classical music with European influences. Get your tickets now!

Event: Blackwood Trio
Date: Thursday, June 11 @ 7:30 PM
Genre: Jazz
Tickets: $30, available online, at the Marigold Box Office (902) 897-4004, or at MacQuarries Pharmasave on the Esplanade

https://tproatlantic.ticketpro.ca/en/pages/1688813059?aff=mcc

Blackwood’s unique, dark and lyrical sound has the precision and clarity found in any classical ensemble, but also taps into the expressive freedom found in the improvisational gestures of contemporary jazz. Juno nominees Jeff Reilly, Peter-Anthony Togni and cellist India Gailey explore plainchant, European jazz and contemporary classical techniques, creating a sound that critics call “sonically haunting”.

Blackwood’s third album “The Thin Veil” will be released in the fall of 2026.

Tonight is the night, Truro! A solo show from Nova Scotia's very own Ben Caplan. Tickets will be available at the door, we hope to see you!

We are now ONE WEEK AWAY from Ben Caplan's performance at the Marigold! Ben's live shows are not something to be missed. Get your tickets while you still can!

Event: Ben Caplan
Date: Monday, June 1 @ 7:30 PM
Tickets: $42 https://tproatlantic.ticketpro.ca/en/pages/1682386733?aff=mcc or (902) 897-4004

Ben Caplan is a singer, songwriter, and live performer known for his unmistakable baritone voice and emotionally immersive concerts. Blending folk, blues, gospel, and Eastern European influences, his music often feels less like a performance and more like a shared ritual—songs shaped by breath, silence, poetry, and raw emotion.

Since releasing his latest album, The Flood, Caplan has been busy touring internationally with his band. Between those larger production shows, Caplan is making time for more intimate solo performances. Sharing brand new songs and old favourites, this will be a night to remember. Don't miss this rare chance to see Ben Caplan stripped back and up close here in Truro!
