Christmas tree sale starts today at 11AM
United Way Greater Toronto
Last year, we wanted to do something fun, different and meaningful for Christmas, especially because we were all in lock down and many events were cancelled. Marc-Philippe and I decided to sell Christmas trees on board the tall ship Empire Sandy for fun and for charity. The response was amazing! People were excited to come on board. There were families, children, tourists and locals. It gave the neighbourhood some Christmas cheer. As it was such a success, Marc-Philippe and I have once again decided to board the tall ship Empire Sandy, this year docked beside the Amsterdam Brewery at 245 Queens Quay West and sell balsam fir trees. This will provide a uniquely nautical and festive environment on the waterfront. Part of the fun of buying a tree from us, is the opportunity for you and your family to tour the Empire Sandy, enjoy the beautiful view from the Sandy, listen to Christmas music and to appreciate the ambience. There is a COVID plan in place. Proceeds with be going to the United Way Greater Toronto. Prices start at $60. Credit cards, debit, tap and cash are accepted. We will be open Thursday to Sunday for the month of December and at any time by appointment. It is also possible to order a tree for delivery via our page, Tall Ship Trees
Thank-you, Oksana Slavutych and Marc-Philippe Gagne

Sarnia-Lambton Tall Ships Celebration 2019
For over 30 years Empire Sandy has been Canada’s largest sailing Tallship. Empire Sandy is a tall ship that will be providing sail-aways during the Sarnia-Lambton Tall Ship Celebration . She was built as an Englishman/ Larch Deep Sea-class tugboat for war service by the British government in 1943. After the end of World War II she was renamed Ashford and then Chris M before reverting to the original name of Empire Sandy and being converted to a schooner. Empire Sandy was one of 1,464 Empire ships built or acquired for war service by the British government. Built in England in 1943 as a deep sea tugboat, she was tasked with Royal Navy work and salvaging merchant ships damaged in the Battle of the Atlantic and other naval engagements during the Second World War. She served in the North Atlantic Ocean from Iceland to Sierra Leone, the Mediterranean Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal during the Second World War. We are honoured to have Empire Sandy join our fleet in 2019
