Probab1e Cauze is the latest musical project by Rafe Sholer. Rafe performed with live drum machines and synths at various Earthcore events from 2005 - 2010 alongside pioneers Talamasca, Juno Reactor and Hallucinogen. In 2020 Rafe travelled to Goa, India, to seek the origins of the genre, but found almost all of Goa had turned to the dark styles. Immersed in this world for just one month, the musical impact was so great that within weeks of returning to Australia, the Probab1e Cauze project began. In 2021 Probab1e Cauze signed to Sonic Tantra Records (India), releasing original music and performing club gigs for Biosphere and Dark Kitchen, and renegade events including Asteria Gathering, Moonlight Stompin’, Divine Frequencies, Oceanic Luminescence and Spooky Spectacular. The music is consuming - fast with dense layers of ambience and intrusive texture that defy musical structure. You can’t jump ahead, you don’t know what’s coming next, and it’s hard to recall everything that happened moments ago. All you can focus on is searching for patterns in the endless swirling soundscape. Seeking order in chaos. Latching onto fleeting repetitions of dissonant melodies, echos of industrial impacts, returning to the relentless drive and comforting familiarity of galloping bass lines.
