I’ve been a little quiet on here lately so I thought it was time I gave a little update!

I am announcing that the 2022 season was my last and final wedding season. I suppose “never say never”... but at this time I am no longer taking on clients.

I’m not leaving on bitter terms, in fact I’m leaving with my heart full of love and gratitude for all the experiences and amazing people I’ve met over the last 12 years. I just feel that this chapter of my life has come to a close and is ready to be wrapped up and tucked away.

I have started packing up my studio and it has sent me through waves of memories and emotions. I’m not going to lie, there has been some second guessing. After all, this has been my career… My life, for the last 12 years and now I’m picking it all apart and boxing it up. But at the same time I’m flooded with waves of excitement as I enter this next chapter.

Thank you to each and every one of you. From clients, family, friends, industry acquaintances and followers. Thank you for your support, encouragement, referrals, love and simply following me on this journey. This wasn’t just a job for me or something to pay the bills. This was my passion, my life. I truly loved what I did and it will be a chapter of my life that I will hold very near and dear to my heart. Designing wedding gowns was a dream I had since I was 10. Thank you for trusting me and helping to make that dream a reality.

You may not know this, but this journey for me began with my oldest sister's wedding and I am ending it with my very own wedding. Yes! My final wedding gown was in fact my own. I didn’t plan it that way, it just sort of fell into place and it feels absolutely perfect to end things on this note.

I will keep this account open, because let's be honest… I will always have a soft spot for all things wedding!

Big news!!💍

After designing bridal wear the past 12 years… I’m excited to announce that this year… I will be designing my own wedding gown!

It’s maybe the most unsure I’ve been about a gown. I’ve had sleepless nights over clients gowns… but this one takes the cake.

Spinning a wedding out in 6 months while coming out of a pandemic which is already a double booked year… it’ll be fun they said. Vendors and fellow brides… I see you. I feel you. We’ve got this!!!

Most major vendors are booked! (More to come on that) but I want to give a very special shout out to 💍 They are the talent behind my ring along with my fiancé of course! He worked directly with the girls at Alexis Gallery designing my ring over the last several months. He was involved every step of the way, down to every detail (and he nailed it might I add!) He only has positive things to say about his experience. I can’t wait to meet the team when it’s time to design our wedding bands!

Congrats to Kate + Chris💕

I went to high school with Kate, although she was a few years older than me I always thought she was so cool! This year, I got to reconnect with her and I had the honour of making her wedding gown. It was last minute and honestly, I didn’t know if I could swing it. But I did and I loved every second of it! Thank you for trusting me with your gown .mama 💗 it truly was a pleasure working with you.

The 2021 season was bananas. It was something I had never experienced in my career. And to be honest, I hope it’s something I never experience again..hah!

Fittings were booked and then cancelled and then booked and then cancelled again until we literally couldn’t wait any longer. Gown designs changed, wedding dates got pushed and pushed and pushed again. Venues changed to back yards, guest lists got cut and everyone was forced to pivot. But the light always wins. Love always wins. So I can officially say that all my 2020 and 2021 brides have all tied the knot🥂

Congratulations to you all! You overcame a big giant bump in the road with such grace. And you deserved the most perfect and beautiful wedding day after all the stress and uncertainty that you were forced into.

To all my fellow wedding vendors. Cheers to you. You did it. I hope you’ve found some time to put your feet up after the rush and take in some much deserved r&r.

I heard from many of my brides that the obstacles from the past year and a half made them realize what was truly important to them as a couple. Suddenly, little details didn’t matter and the idea of a small intimate wedding was perfect! Will small guest lists stick? Or will we move back to big weddings… time will tell!

Meredith was a last minute client of mine. Her and her fiancé were planning a wedding in Portugal. Things were up in the air for awhile… but as I said, love wins and as scheduled they boarded their flight to Portugal and family and friends from many corners of the world joined them to celebrate their union.

The first gown of 2021 left the studio last week✨
All but one fitting was done via zoom for this gown. It was weird. It was new and I was totally out of my element. It actually broke my heart a little bit. This is not how I do things. This is not what my client deserves. This is not the process she was promised. I was sad that she couldn’t move through the process with me in person. I hated not being able to see her initial reactions. I hated not being able to read her body language and energy. As I said, I was out of my element.

If you’ve worked with me before, you know I’m very hands on and I like to use my hands and arms and all my limbs to explain and express!!! I worried my thoughts and her wants were being lost over the computer screen.

But we did it! And based on the video she sent me of her receiving the gown, I’d say we nailed it.

Although this wasn’t the ideal situation or process... I am grateful that I still had the option and ability to create. I am grateful for technology, for speedy .official deliveries! And for the patience, compassion and understanding that my sweet client showed through it all. You know who you are. Thank you❤️

The loveliest month, don’t you think? It’s not just for your significant other, but love for yourself, family and friends.

It’s been a hard winter for many and we’re not through yet... so maybe this month we spread a little more love, a little more joy and a little more compassion for others.

Have you ever considered reworking your mothers or grandmothers dress into your wedding gown? Did you know it was even a possibility?! I have been receiving more and more inquiries about this idea lately. Brides wondering if it’s even possible! Well, guess what… it totally is and I’m a big fan!

Sometimes it can’t be done because of the condition that the vintage dress in. Sometimes the colour is so off that I simply can’t match it to modern day fabrics. Sometimes the fabric is so old, that it just disintegrates when I stitch through it. But for the most part, it’s totally possible in one way or another.

How does the process work you ask? I like to get an idea of what your dream dress looks like in your mind… heirloom dress aside. Then I briefly inspect the vintage dress and ask about certain elements of the gown and if there’s anything in particular that you want to incorporate. Then I’ll put the dress on Judy (my mannequin) and sit with her for a few days. We drink wine and chat (just kidding…..) but I do like to “get to know” the vintage dress, there’s so much history in the folds after all! Uh.. if only she could talk...Then! When creativity strikes, I’ll put some fresh ideas down onto paper and we’ll go over them together!

It’s pretty amazing to bring a dress back to life. A dress that likely hasn’t been looked at in maybe 30 years or so?! Not only is your gown made just for you, but it’s even more special and meaningful now because it has a piece of your family’s history in it. Plus! It helps to reduce and reuse fabric! Bonus! ✨💫
