Latin sacred rhythms are deep, spiritual musical traditions whose roots travel from West Africa through the Caribbean and across Latin America.
They are not costumes, trends, or marketing tools.
Many people see artists like myself and communities expressing these traditions and think they can simply adopt them because they look beautiful, powerful, or culturally rich... or persive us as succesfull because of it. What they often miss is that these rhythms are connected to ancestry, history, spirituality, and lived experience.
The reason they look and SOUND natural on us is not because they are being promoted well, it is because they are part of who we are. They live in our stories, our communities, our ceremonies, and our DNA.
Respect begins with understanding where these traditions come from and what they represent beyond the stage.
With that in mind, I'd like to share my new single, Used.
At its core, this song is rooted in authentic Latin rhythms, driven by the pulse of the Cha Cha Chá and enriched by Jazz harmony and soulful expression. The layered vocals are not simply carrying the lyrics,
they become part of the instrumentation itself, weaving through the groove alongside the band.
For those who love Latin Jazz, Soul, and music with deep roots, I hope Used moves you as much as it moved me while creating it.
Huge love to the musicians playing it and making it sound as it does
