There’s a step in the event planning process that most people never see — and honestly, most people don’t even know to ask for it.

It’s called a mock-up meeting. And this morning, I was at my floral designer’s studio doing exactly that.

We pull the actual florals. The vessels. The linens. The candles. Everything gets built out in real life so my client can see and feel the vision before their event day arrives. Not a rendering. Not a mood board. The real thing.

This is the kind of detail that only comes with experience — knowing which questions to ask, which combinations don’t translate from screen to centerpiece, and which vendors can execute at the level your event deserves.

Pinterest can inspire you. TikTok can show you pretty things. But there’s a difference between inspiration and ex*****on — and that gap is where an experienced planner lives.
