Celebrating the Legacy of Mark Hesselink
This is not a typical exhibition. It’s a celebration, a remembrance and a love letter to a dear friend we lost last year — Mark Hesselink.
Mark made his living producing some of the biggest music videos in the world, but behind the scenes, quietly and without fanfare, he was also an extraordinary photographer. At every party, gathering, or quiet moment, Mark had a camera in hand. He had a gift for finding the moment — the one that captured the feeling of being there. Long before the word “selfie” entered our vocabulary, Mark was turning the camera on himself and his friends with intimacy and joy.
Photography was his hobby, never his job. But what he left behind is a stunning body of work — a legacy of images filled with warmth, humour, and presence.
This month at Sixteen Eleven Studios (1611 Dundas St. West), we invite you to experience Mark’s photography and the world through his eyes, opening on Friday, May 16, 2025. The show will close with a special event on May 29th, where friends, family, and all who admired him will gather to honour his memory.
In the spirit of Mark’s generosity, we’ll be giving away all of the artwork to attendees on the closing night. Come celebrate a life well lived and an eye that always saw the magic in the moment.
