I’ve been laying awake at night thinking about how I want to alter the Dobos torte.
I’m sure you know that it’s a Hungarian dessert, and that it takes a really damn long time to make.😂
The Dobos torte (or "Dobos cake") is a classic, traditional Hungarian layered dessert. It is comprised of multiple (usually 5 to 7 , or More !) ultra-thin layers of sponge cake, sandwiched and coated with rich chocolate buttercream.
The sides of the torte are typically pressed with ground nuts—such as hazelnuts, walnuts, or almonds.
It’s capped with a signature, glistening hard caramel crust.
As you know, I love to make traditional foods but…
Here’s my version!
I changed the recipe of the sponge.
Instead of multiple thin layers, I made 3 thicker layers.
To lighten it up, I made a chocolate Swiss Meringue.
In place of the caramel fan, I made some Bubble Sugar Caramel Decorations.
I still coated the sides of the cake with nuts,
I also added some crushed praline.
The verdict..
Same great Dobosh taste!!
And it’s just in time for Father’s Day💙
I will be taking a limited amount of orders for this cake. And because I have changed it slightly, I am able to offer it at a lower price-$55
Also thanks to those who have put their custom Father’s Day orders in advance. 😘
Dads truly deserve a day dedicated to honoring their unique role in the family!
Spoiler Alert Dad!
You’re getting a Dobosh!
