Lavender plants do not last forever and most gardeners do not know that until theirs starts going woody and flowering less every year. Replacing them gets expensive fast — a single established lavender plant at the garden center can set you back fifteen dollars or more, and if you have a row of them that is a real bill. What lavender farms actually do instead is propagate new plants straight off the old ones through a process called layering, and it requires no special equipment, no rooting hormone and almost no effort. One plant can give you as many new plants as you want. The full method is in the comments.

Lilac season is wrapping up right now and the two to three weeks immediately after the blooms fade is the single most important pruning window of the entire year. Lilacs bloom on last year's wood, which means the plant is already forming next spring's flower buds right now, in the weeks after this year's flowers fade. Prune too late and you are removing next year's blooms before they ever have a chance. There is also something surprising in the comments about what cutting the flowers for bouquets does for next year's display that most lilac growers have completely backwards. All of it is linked below.

Companion planting can be helpful, but I always treat it as a small bonus and not a magic fix for every garden problem 🌱
🥕 I do like pairing crops that naturally fit well together, like tomatoes with basil, or carrots with onions.
🌼 Flowers like marigolds and nasturtiums are some of my favorite companion plants because they add color and make the garden feel fuller too.
🍅 What helps most in my experience is still the basics: good spacing, enough sun, healthy soil, and keeping plants watered properly.
🪴 I use companion planting more as a guide for smart grouping than as a strict rulebook.
🌿 If something has not worked for you in the past, trust what your own garden keeps showing you.

Hello. I'm the Paper Wasp.
You see my nest—and want it gone.

But look closer.

What I actually do all day:
Hunt caterpillars.

The same ones destroying:
→ your tomatoes
→ your kale
→ your garden

In one week:
I can remove hundreds.

The myth:
“All wasps are aggressive.”

False.

I only defend myself if threatened.

If you ignore me → I ignore you.

What most people don’t know:
I can recognize faces.

I know who disturbs my nest—and who doesn’t.

What to do:
If I’m not in your way… leave me.

You don’t need chemicals.
You already have a system.
