Why You Should Never Schedule Your Makeup Last 💄

One of the biggest mistakes I see on wedding mornings is brides scheduling their makeup as the very last appointment of the day. (I’m guilty of this too 🙋🏼‍♀️)

While it might seem like the best idea so your makeup is the freshest, it can actually create a lot of unnecessary stress!

Hair and makeup timelines can sometimes run behind due to touch-ups, longer application times, or unexpected delays. If you’re the last person in the chair and the schedule starts slipping, suddenly you’re rushing to get dressed, take photos, and stay on track for your ceremony.

Instead, I always recommend having your makeup done somewhere in the middle of the schedule. This gives you a buffer if things run behind and allows time for touch-ups before photos if needed 💄🤍

Friendly reminder: there is absolutely no shame in having a dress code for your wedding day. 🤍

Whether it’s black tie, cocktail, garden party, muted tones, or “please no jeans” … setting expectations helps your day feel cohesive and intentional. Your photos will look more polished, your vision comes together beautifully, and your guests often appreciate the guidance!

Your wedding is a curated experience, and it’s completely okay to communicate the vibe you’re going for. ✨

And from the guest side: if a couple has provided a dress code, please respect it. 🤍 Following the requested attire is such a simple way to honor the couple, their vision, and the effort they’ve put into planning their day.

A small detail really can make a big difference in the overall feel of a wedding day!

(I’m on maternity leave and have no idea what day it is half the time😅)

TABLE CAPTAINS 👨🏼‍✈️👩🏻‍✈️

One of my lovely brides did this and it was a HUGE hit!! 🎉

The role is simple but game-changing:

🥂Keep drinks full – make sure everyone stays hydrated and happy! But remember, no peer-pressuring. Keep it fun and respectful!
🤳 Take selfies & group pics – capture those candid, fun table moments!
🕺 Get everyone dancing – be the first to hit the dance floor and teach people your favorite dance move!
👋 Introduce people – make sure no one’s left sitting alone and conversations keep flowing!
📸 Meet up with the other table captains – snap a quick crew pic for a memory that’ll make everyone smile!

And here’s the kicker: all it takes is a little note and an identifying accessory (Hat, name tag, sash) to get your Table Captains fired up!! 💌

It’s such a small role, but it turns tables into hubs of energy, laughter, and connection. Guests love having a job, conversations spark naturally, and the dance floor stays packed all night! 🪩

Family photos on wedding days can be one of the most meaningful parts of your gallery, but they’re also where timelines can unravel if you’re not prepared!

Pro tip: pre-plan everything!!!
Decide ahead of time which family members will be in photos, let them know *before* the wedding day, and send a detailed shot list to your photographer in advance. Assign a family member or your Day of Coordinator to help gather people quickly.
Family photos can often take 2-3x longer than couples expect, especially with large or blended families!
Being organized keeps things running smoothly, protects your timeline, and leaves more time for celebrating 🥂
