Spotted something pretty cool a few days ago cruising from Victoria to Alaska — a superpod of orcas swimming alongside the ship. Looked like well over 100 of them, including what seemed like many baby orcas.
A superpod is when multiple orca families come together in one big group — sometimes over 100 whales. It’s rare to see and usually happens for feeding, socializing, or mating, especially in areas with lots of food.
They followed us for a while, and it was wild to see them all moving together like that. Definitely one of the more unexpected and awesome moments of the trip.
