While enjoying the music, we are fundraising for emergency medical supplies for Ukrainian defenders with the volunteer team working with the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral (information about the initiative is in the comments).
At the first concert “Glowing Hope” on January 27, we focus on works by Ukrainian composers Barvinsky, Ptushkin and Yushkevich, performed by Taryn Plater (mezzo-soprano), Anna Sagalova (piano) and Eugene Skovorodnikov (piano). Guitarist-composer Denys Panchenko will play his own compositions.
On February 4, at the "Kharkiv Invincible" concert, you will hear our favorite couple from Kharkiv, Anna Sagalova and Denys Panchenko. They will treat you to virtuoso solo works by Bach, Frescobaldi, Piazzola, Mendelssohn and Kharkiv composer Mark Karminsky.
On February 11, an incredible singer, soprano Natalya Gennadi, will join us from Toronto for the concert "Her Winding Path.” The program features a cycle of songs by the Kherson composer Yurii Ishchenko along with Samuel Barber's "Hermit Songs" and Anna Pidgorna's "Eileen's Lament." Natalya will perform with pianist Anna Sagalova.
At the last "Dreaming of Spring" concert on February 18, you will hear Beethoven's "Spring Sonata" as well as works by Mozart, Schubert, and Ukrainian composers Skoryk and Shtoharenko, performed by violinist Petro Krysa and pianist Eugene Skovorodnikov.
Many thanks to the festival sponsors The Shevchenko Foundation and Tom Lee Music.
