We're all gearing up for the Young Composers Celebration Concert on Sunday, March 1 at 3:45 pm!

The venue is Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in downtown Stony Plain (5010 52 Ave).

Everyone is welcome to come enjoy piano solos and ensembles; vocal ensembles; and hand bell ensembles -- along with snacks after the concert.

The best part will be hearing these young musicians perform their own piano compositions, which they've been working on since the beginning of January. I'm so glad that Music for Young Children includes the annual Composition Festival in our curriculum!

I'm so thankful for Frances' vision, determination and hard work. It is such a joy teaching the Music for Young Children program!

Today we celebrate the birthday of MYC founder, Frances Mae Balodis.

In 1980, Frances sat at her kitchen table in Dartmouth, NS with a clear goal in mind: to create a program that would fulfill the need for quality music education for young children. Over 45 years later, MYC is still an international leading quality music program! Thank you for your vision, Frances.

But no worse than the silly riddles 'Mr. Mozart' sends the Sunbeams 2 class each year around Halloween: 'what is a skeleton's favourite instrument? the trombone' etc.

Not only are my MYC students busily working on their compositions, but the Sunbeams 2 class is memorizing the song Mr. Mozart to share at our Young Composers Celebration Concert on March 1!

Today we celebrate the birthday of one of the greatest composers of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Do you know what Mozart and MYC students have in common? They both begin composing at a very young age!
