Already we have some great stuff popping up around the yard. Admittedly it's only one stalk of asparagus so far, but we are optimistic there are more on their way.
The mint is so welcome this time of year! So fresh. So vibrant and green. We don't see it on enough savory dishes.
Rhubarb is so fantastic! Have you ever had it in a curry? So good!!

I went to a soft opening for yesterday. Sorry for the sh*tty photo, but Joe and Prat definitely deserve some love. Great people and great beer. They have been given some road blocks on their journey but opening day is almost here! Make sure to check them out. They are elevating the Ontario beer scene.

The beauty and abundance of winter present itself in quieter, slower, and more subtle ways. Baking, fermenting, and surprising harvests! A nice crusty loaf, preserving kohlrabi, and indoor rosemary were all the ways I found to continue celebrating food.
I hope the holidays have provided moments of joy for you.

I'm still getting gifts from the yard. Who loves sunchokes? You can boil 'em, mash 'em, or put them in a stew. You can eat them raw, and I have read that they are good for those with diabetes.

Local Food Spotlight:
There are some great spots popping up in Belleville! has been on my radar for a while as they get so many positive reviews. They have been around for a bit, and now I finally know why! I got the green curry and it was so delicious I almost forgot to take a picture before I devoured it all. There was depth, complexity and memories of Thailand in this dish. I look forward to returning soon!
I am so happy to see the culinary scene of any area grow, but I (selfishly) get extra excited when it's close to home.
Go get some Thai food in your belly!!
