the iconic Canadian series ‘You Can’t Do That On Television'? The series debuted on CTV in 1979 and was hosted by Christine McGlade.

The series featured sketch comedy and music videos and was aimed toward pre-teens and teens.

In 1981 Nickelodeon gained interested in the series and brought it to the United States of America. YCDTOTV aired for 10 seasons.

Alanis Morisette appeared in 7 episodes of "You Can't Do That On Television" and used the money to make her first album at age 10.

green slime was poured on contestants heads when they said the phrase “I don’t know”. Slime has been a part of the YCDTOTV series from the very first episode. Green slime is now a fixture in the Nickelodeon universe and watching celebrities get “slimed” is a fan favourite part of the Kid’s Choice Awards.
