Congratulations to Jill Doucet, a graduate of Edward Milne Community School, who captured gold at the National Collegiate Boxing Association championships on April 11 while representing the University of Washington. She was also named the tournament’s Best Female Boxer.

Doucet’s success is a powerful example of what athletes from small communities can achieve. “You can do anything you put your mind to,” she said. “Just make sure you enjoy what you’re doing.”

She plans to graduate this fall before returning to Vancouver Island to pursue law school.

They may just be starting…
Some are new to the club.
New to the sport.
….Still figuring it all out.

But give them time.

Because this isn’t just about boxing.
It’s about confidence, discipline, and finding belief in themselves.

That’s the meaningful part.
Not where they start…
but who they become by showing up.
