Pick up day- So we decided that this year we were going to rescue older hens instead of hatching chicks. These lovely hens were used for breeding and are in rough shape. This hurt my heart to watch them but they now have a loving home and can learn how to be chickens. This is always so hard to see them compared to the chickens we have who are living a good life. The hens are scared of humans (no wonder) and climb over each other to get away from me when I am in their space to feed them. We were able to rescue 4 Ameraucana and 4 Rhode Island Red hens. We look forward to seeing them fully feathered and healthy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙💙💙
