From Foster Care to the Boardroom: My Story
When I was 12 years old, I entered the foster care system as ward of the government. Eventually, they ran out of foster homes for me in Saskatchewan, and I was sent to Calgary ā a city where I didnāt know a single soul. When I aged out of care, I was left to fend for myself. No guidance, no support. I ended up on the streets, completely lost.
Fast forward to this week ā Iām heading back to Calgary, but not the same person I was back then. This time, Iām going back as the founder of Bannock Mix Inc, to graduate from Arlene Dickinsonās Cohort Accelerator ā an opportunity I earned after pitching my business on Dragonsā Den.
Iāll be standing in front of a room full of investors, sharing my story and my vision. Itās surreal.
This moment means more than just business growth. Itās proof that we can turn our pain into power. I know so many others have gone through the foster system, felt abandoned, and struggled to find their way. If thatās you ā please know: you are not alone, and your past does not define your future.
This week, I walk into that room carrying the strength of every foster kid who thought they wouldnāt make it. Iām doing this for us.
Thank you to everyone whoās supported me along this journey. I see you. I appreciate you. And Iām just getting started.

A Major Milestone for My Business š
This week marks a huge achievement in my entrepreneurial journey, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who continues to support my business.
Earlier this year, I had the honour of participating in Arlene Dickinsonās Accelerator Cohort, which was part of the deal I pitched on Dragonsā Den ā and generously sponsored by Arlene herself. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity gave me valuable insights and strategies to grow my brand in a sustainable and impactful way.
The program pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Juggling the demands of my businesses while attending intensive classes ā often during peak restaurant hours ā wasnāt easy. But I made the choice to fully commit to this incredible mentorship opportunity, and Iām so glad I did.
This year was all about product development, refining my strategy, and stepping back to grow forward. There were moments of burnout, work overload, and doubt ā but Iāve learned that building from the ground up with my own capital has made me more resilient, focused, and aligned with my mission.
To the entire Cohort 18 team: thank you. Your knowledge, experience, and support have meant the world to me. Youāve helped me see my business through a new lens and inspired me to keep pushing for more.
Iām excited for whatās next ā and forever grateful for those who believe in me.
Stay tuned⦠weāre just getting started.

āBannock and Loveā
On Motherās Day, the sun shines bright,
With morning hugs and hearts so light.
The kettle sings, the tableās set,
A day of love we wonāt forget.
She stirs the dough with hands so wise,
A sparkle dancing in her eyes.
The smell of bannock fills the air,
A motherās love is always there.
Warm and golden, soft and round,
In every bite, her care is found.
She feeds our bellies, warms our soul,
Her bannock makes the family whole.
Through every trial, every cheer,
Sheās been our strength, our steady steer.
Today we thank her, share our praise,
With jam and bannock on her tray.
To moms who lift us when we fallā
You are our heart, our all in all.
With every bite, this truth we say:
We love you more each Motherās Day.

Exciting News!
Iām thrilled to share that Iām graduating from Arlene Dickinsonās Accelerator Program this June! This incredible opportunity was part of the pitch I negotiated on Season 18 of CBCās Dragonsā Den for my Bannock Mix ā and Iāll be pitching again as part of the program!
From June 16ā20, Iāll be fully immersed in the final week of the Accelerator, so Iāll be a little busy ā but for a great reason!
Graduating from this program and officially becoming a Dragonsā Den Alumni is a huge milestone for me. This past year, Iāve gained invaluable insight into growth strategies, brand development, and the tools needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Iām forever grateful for this opportunity and the support Iāve received along the way.
To mark this achievement, Iām planning a Celebration Dinner where Iāll share my journey and what Iāve learned ā stay tuned for the announcement!

Goodwindās Update ā From the Bottom of Our Hearts, Thank You
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown love, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time for our nephew, Goodwind. As many of you know, he was the victim of a malicious machete attack that left him with serious trauma to his face.
Thanks to your donations, his immediate medical needs were taken care of ā but unfortunately, the stitch job was poorly done, and he now requires facial reconstruction surgery. Because this is considered cosmetic, it will not be covered, and we will have to pay out of pocket for this next stage of healing.
This week, we have a consultation scheduled with a specialist, which alone costs $300. After the appointment on Thursday, weāll have a clearer idea of the cost for the surgery and what will be needed to properly correct the trauma and support Goodwindās recovery ā not just physically, but emotionally too.
Weāll share another update later this week. Until then, thank you again for standing with us and Goodwind. Your kindness means the world.
Please see the comments for the link to his go fund me. If you canāt donate, a share helps us too ā¤ļø

On Sunday, my nephew Goodwind was the victim of a vicious and unprovoked machete attack. He simply approached someone to ask for a smoke ā and in response, this person slashed him across the face with a machete. Any further and Goodwind might not be here. The guy laughed at Goodwind after he slashed his face.
The cut went deep through his cheek. He had to hold his face together with his hands. He lost a dangerous amount of blood and was rushed to the ER.
The emergency team did what they could to close the wound, but weāre deeply concerned that the stitching wonāt heal properly. A facial consultation alone costs $300, and the corrective surgery heāll likely need can be very expensive.
Goodwind doesnāt remember much of what happened. Heās traumatized and in pain ā physically, emotionally, and mentally. This is a life altering experience.
What makes this even harder: five years ago, he lost his mother suddenly on Christmas Eve. Since then, heās worked hard, stayed strong for his siblings, and always shows up for his family. He did not deserve this. He was attacked for no reason, and the man who did this is still at large.
Weāre asking for your help to cover:
⢠Specialist consultations
⢠Facial reconstructive surgery
⢠Follow-up care and therapy
⢠Any extra funds raised will go to Goodwind
Please donate what you can, and share this with others.
Every dollar makes a difference. Every share helps spread the word.
We Thank you for supporting him during this nightmare.
Weāre grateful for anything you can do.
