The Kavathia’s🤍
Parth and Iryna’s day is one that I will remember forever. It was just days after the wildfire smoke had taken over Sarnia. Which thankfully on their day, it had cleared enough that we had some brightness in the sky! But most importantly, it was full of culture, love and expression that I’ve never experienced before.
I got to witness traditional Ukrainian ceremonies in the most beautiful way.
- Stepping on the pidnozhnyk at the altar to symbolize the road they will walk together.
- Tying the knot with the rushnyk, symbolizing two lives becoming one.
- Breaking the korovai [traditional Ukrainian bread] and whoever pulled the biggest piece is who rules the household!
- Her mother removing the veil, a sweet moment marking the bride’s step into married life.
- The bride price, where the groom has to earn his bride through a series of tests before he can see her!
They each also had each others rings made in their home countries. Truly such a special sentiment for both of them!🤍
I am so grateful to have been able to be a part of this day. And not to mention all of the traditional Indian and Ukrainian food!!!😋
