We’re The Whole Story, a wedding and event planning company rooted on Salt Spring Island and serving the Southern Gulf Islands.

We're an event planning company rooted on Salt Spring Island; created to honour the artistry of local talent and the wild beauty of this place, while guiding clients through meaningful, beautifully crafted gatherings. We offer thoughtful, high-end planning, design, and coordination for destination weddings, celebrations, retreats, and events that balance seamless logistics with moments that feel deeply personal and alive. Founded by three women — friends and mamas — Jules Rieter, Ash Casault and Miranda Berber, The Whole Story was built to honour the artistry of local talent and the wild beauty of this place, while guiding clients through meaningful, beautifully crafted gatherings. As planners, we see ourselves as space-holders as much as coordinators — creating the right conditions for connection to spark, moments to unfold naturally, and memories that last for years to come.

Next chapter: A Name & A Brand

Welcome back. Remember - we’re catching you up on the last year and a half...

Our first photo shoot left us with beautiful images but we didn’t yet have a name. We wanted something that was poetic but grounded; something that held meaning and had range; something that could be entrusted with life’s many milestones as well as a gala or retreat. Gatherings and experiences of any and all kinds.

We felt most at home with: The Whole Story

Every event is a story to be told in the making, and we get to help design and shape the experience guests move through and that hosts want to express. Every couple and gathering has a story of its own to tell, and we’re here for all of it.

Our branding was dreamt up in collaboration with the talented Addison of Addison ✨ Artist + Designer.

Thank you, Addison, for your dedication to perfecting every pixel and drawing every gorgeous detail by hand 🤍

Destination weddings offer a chance to go beyond the wedding day and sink into the place you’ve chosen to gather your most cherished people.

Megan & Alex did exactly that. First a rehearsal dinner, followed by a welcome gathering on beloved community fairgrounds, complete with snack and drink stalls and bluegrass musicians playing in the orchard. The wedding day began with lakeside yoga for 150 guests, cheeky dip included. Then a Sunday brunch with mimosas and Bloody Marys to regather everyone and soak it all in.

Build the weekend around your story and community, and let every moment say something about the two of you. 🤍

Oh, hello there! Don’t mind us, we’re just dusting off the cobwebs on our social media…

Hi - it’s nice to see you again. We’re The Whole Story, an event planning, production and design studio rooted on Salt Spring Island (and we’ll go anywhere).

Steering this social-media-avoidant ship are us 3: Jules, Miranda & Ash. We’re joined by a team of co-coordinators, production team members and hospitality stars.

We’ll start sharing some of what has kept us busy over the last year and a half, beginning with what every newly formed business needs PRONTO: a photoshoot. 📸💅

What began as an hour with Billie (Billie Woods Photography) intended to get us something to advertise with; became multiple outfit and hairstyle changes, a call for florals from Molly (Lost Field Farm | Salt Spring Wedding Venue), 4 scene changes, a box of pastries from Francis, and a catered lunch from Del Vecchio for our dedicated crew (AKA: families and conspirers). 😅

Our babies played in the grass nearby, held by aforementioned crew members, and Billie followed us around as we went from location to location with what we gathered to create - buckets and crates and baskets of treasures, oh my! 😍

In hindsight, all the fuss is just so terribly us - always reaching for how we can enjoy a moment to the fullest, how we can linger a little longer amongst the ‘busy’ and celebrate.

To that we say:

Our 2025 season has wrapped up and now we have a chance to reflect, appreciate...and begin to prepare for 2026. So grateful to the families who shared their sacred moments and joyful celebrations with us. We love what we do.
