💃 We are excited to start announcing our DJ’s for Salt Spring Fusion Dance Festival this year: First up: Pomona!

Pomona grew up dancing on in east van, sneaking out of her parents' place to go to house parties. Pomona has been playing for dancers since 2013, and loving music since the mid-90s. She has dropped bangers in ballrooms, bars and basements from paris to portland, and plenty places in between. Po brings a rhythmically layered vibe, irresistible basslines, and a love for hitches and glitches. After the last few years in the bay area, her music is decidedly funky; she incorporates hip hop, nu soul, and funk into her rhythm-centered sets, revealing her lindy and blues roots.

ADDED BONUS: Pomona is also a fusion dance teacher and will be sharing a class with us as well!

As a teacher, she is a true shapeshifter that has won lindy hop, blues, and fusion competitions as a leader, follower, and soloist. She draws inspiration from an array of sources; contact improvisation, clowning, street dance, and living in a q***r body. Her dance style is playful, rhythmic, and raw, with an emphasis on improvisation and an unwavering dedication to musicality and expression.

As a healer, therapist, and dancer, I am deeply invested in personal embodiment via movement inquiry and the body. I love diving in deep into anatomy, fascia and body systems. It is equally rich unpacking the felt sense and kinesthetic experience of being human on emotional and energetic levels.

I am truly grateful and excited to be hosting a powerful and transformative retreat this summer where we will explore the insection of these ideas.
