While he won’t be able to return to work this season, he’s steadily on the road to recovery. We are truly grateful for all the support we've received in so many different ways🙏❤️

It’s already been one month since my dear friend Chikako launched the GoFundMe campaign for Daniel. We’re now just a little shy of reaching the goal—and I want to thank each and every one of you for the incredible support.
I have some wonderful news to share:
Since the GoFundMe started, Daniel has not needed to go to the ER even once!
Before that, he was constantly battling recurring bone infections after his foot surgery. Every time an infection was found, he had to take oral antibiotics for 10 to 14 days and go to the ER daily for IV antibiotics. On some days, we were there until 2 AM. Just when we thought things were getting better, the infection would return again. It was a never-ending cycle, and honestly, very discouraging at times.
But over the past month—ever since the campaign began—his recovery has been progressing smoothly, almost unbelievably so.
Next week, we’ll have our very first meeting with a specialist to begin the process of creating his prosthetic and shoe.
I truly believe that your generous donations and heartfelt messages have relieved Daniel of financial stress, and that emotional relief has played a major role in his healing journey.

Life has brought us a season we never expected.

As many of you know, Daniel suffered a heart attack last fall and had to undergo five heart bypass surgeries. Complications followed, leading to the partial amputation of his foot. His recovery has been long and painful, and due to an ongoing bone infection, he’s still unable to walk properly or return to work.

The medical costs have added up quickly—and with Daniel unable to work, we’ve found ourselves in a situation where we need help.

💛 That’s why our dear friend Chikako has generously set up a GoFundMe to support us during this time.

Many of you who know Daniel, know that he has always been someone who gives. Since moving to the Okanagan, he’s donated countless meals through his food truck to support frontline workers—firefighters, police officers, city staff—as well as various community organizations in Osoyoos, Oliver, Salmon Arm, and Blind Bay.

Now, he’s the one who needs a helping hand.

We are still in the midst of treatment, and one of our biggest goals is to eventually get a custom-made prosthetic (for the front part of his foot) and some pairs of custom-made shoes for it, so Daniel can stand and walk more stably again.

Daniel is recovering well, although it’s taking time. He still gets tired easily, but he is able to stand and walk.
Since he can't stay on his feet for long periods and still tires quickly, he spends most of his time at home. However, since he’s not the type to sit still, he has recently become passionate about baking bread😉

After spending 135 days at the hospital, he finally came home last night.

We’re so thankful for the steps forward we’ve been able to take, but we know it will still take time to fully return to our normal routines. Thank you for your continued support as we navigate this journey—it means more than words can express. 🫶✨
