Before I started working with multi op dj companies, I had my own thing going on.
I successfully ran my own business and didn’t want to become a multi op DJ company because the stress of having someone else represent me was not worth it (for me).
I have always worked hard and as many who follow me here know, my motto and mantra has ALWAYS been “I want your guests to say to you that your wedding (or other event) was the best wedding/event they have ever been to”. And I put my heart and soul into that.
Now as I mentioned above, I worked for a few male owned multi op DJ companies. I was a loyal worker, and still wanted to do my very best at the events that I was put out on, because I was representing them. I took my job very seriously. But there’s an issue with this type of multi op business. The owners seem to fear having their DJs getting information on their wedding(s) too soon. Why? Were they afraid they would lose the client? The client that already booked? 🫣😎. Many times we only get the details 3 days before the event. So there’s no connection to the DJ, there’s no vibe check and the company has just thrown their DJ into a lions den hoping for the best.
You know what? Lucky for DJ multi op companies, 8 times out of 10 the DJ will be just fine and can run the show no issues. Unfortunately, there are times when a multi op dj company will place a DJ in a space that will not showcase the talent of that dj, and this is troublesome.
Where I have personally found the issues coming out a lot is because I’m a female. And now….a female in her 50’s. Holy crap! I just typed that out loud! 🫣🤪😂. Yes….look out world, I’m an old lady DJ. 😂😂😂
Tell me….do you have the same issue with a male with salt and pepper hair DJing in his 50’s too? Does one think I just magically forgot how to do my job? Naaa….I was just dealt a blow of sexism, misogyny, and ageism.
Back to me running my own show….guess what happens now? Anyone who calls me, knows it’s ME that will be there. It’s ME you get to work with, it’s ME that will work hard to get that “this was the best wedding I’ve ever been to!!”. And I promise, we will be talking way more than 3 days before your wedding. And anyone who calls me knows I’m female so no surprises 🤪.
Below is a text I received today. And it warmed my heart. I still got it baby!! 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
Really take the time to know who your dj is. I’m not for everyone, but I do know my worth and my love for my job.
If you go to a multi op company, ensure you have a connection with your DJ. Go through your timeline and ask any questions you want. You want your day to feel magical and not have a DJ that just happened to have been available on your most special day.
Ps…that rain song is showcased in the post below this one 🤩🥰❤️
