While it was a very short shoot due to getting eaten alive by mosquitoes last night, I had a fun shoot with the adorable Yoshi last night out at the farm. Another tripod kitty, he’s a very chill cat, but also very curious and playful as he’s still a youngling.

Last night I had a familiar face in the studio - Frida! I first had the chance to photograph Frida when she was just a puppy and full of beans! Frida is now 5 years old and still so sweet, but much more able to follow commands! She nailed every pose and worked those puppy eyes! She got lots of treats as a reward 😊

Last night, despite the smoke, wound up being kind of a perfect evening to shoot with Polar Bear. This gentle giant is such a sweetie, he lumbers around his farm yard, and loves to chase the barn cats apparently, but he didn’t seem put out at all when his humans said “no”. When I asked if it was ok to get him up on the trailer, he seemed quite content to survey the canola and the many barn swallows that were zipping about!

I was photographing a family out in Emerald park last night and was pleased to know that they’d be bringing their dog - named after an absolutely essential element to life: Coffee! She’s a sassy girl, and apparently, the more you ignore her, the more she’ll like you!

At one point when we were trying to get her in for a group photo, she decided it was a game and took off running in big loops around the yard, trying to get us to chase her and having the time of her life. So I was glad when we had a still moment where she paused for a portrait.

Friday I went to do a bit of a rural tour, hitting up Indian Head, passing through Lebret (stopping at a supermarket cute little stained glass studio while I was at it) and Fort Qu’Appelle for a scouting trip for a shoot I’ll be doing later this season, then on the way home, I stopped for a shoot with Jasper! Jasper is still a very young (read: excitable and full of energy) but with some time I think I still managed to get some great shots of him. Though it was very hot out, his tongue just was unwilling to stay in his mouth! But with lots of distractions like birds along with all the interesting smells, I think he was pretty pooped by the time we were done!

Was busy helping Rammy Sohal Photography shoot a wedding this past week so I did not get around to posting this preview of little Coco - technically I think he’s still a kitten, having just turned 1 and he’s a headstrong and playful little guy, attacking feet but thankfully very gentle. He was a bit uncertain about the camera, but still super cute catto!

While editing Josie, I got a little whimsical, thinking of an event with my cat right after my mom died a couple of years ago. I don’t necessarily know if I believe that animals can see into l’au déla, so to speak, but I’ve had moments where I certainly have wondered. And I started playing around with this image of Josie. If nothing else, I thought it was cute. Do you think your pets can see into other realms of existence?

After all the rain we’ve been having, it was great to have a beautiful night last night and do a shoot with Abu on the patio at Trifon’s on Kramer. Abu is a little sweetie, while her paws were a bit tender for walking, she was super happy to just chill on the furniture through the shoot.

Happy Canada Day! This is just a quick grab from the back of the camera on this (slightly) working holiday where I got to shoot with Bailey. Bailey was a little bit nervous coming into the studio, which does happen - with big scary lights flashing, it’s actually not uncommon for pets to be nervous in studio, so after a bit, we wound up going outside. Thankfully Mother Nature was generous enough to not rain on us for a few minutes and while he was quite distracted, he seemed much happier sniffing about on the grass!
