After a lot of time and thought about what I wanted to say, I am so thrilled to share my latest at-home project.
In my spare time, I've decided to take a bit of a trip back down memory lane to my very first wedding cake from high school.
I present a bigger and better version that features handmade sugar tulips, intricately crafted petal by petal (which also comes with one massive mess of the dining room table... Oops.) I've incorporated delicate oriental drop string piping techniques to both the top and bottom tiers, which are starting to become a signature style for many of my cakes.
Let's also not forget the traditional Dutch hand-painted royal icing designs on the centre tier; inspired by my grandparents Delft Blue China from Holland, which is scattered throughout their house.
This cake is a true labor of love and is the most real vision I had of this cake back when I made it 6 years ago today (wow!) I just didn't have the experience and skills to execute it this way back then as I have now. Nonetheless, both cakes were and are a representation of my love of design, decoration, and baking.
As I make a final nod to my high school days, I have to thank Chef Turcotte for supporting me and for his continued support to this day. Without your inspiration, I would have never achieved such amazing things and be where I am now. This is simply just the beginning. This has become more than just a cake; it's a love letter to my past, a celebration of my growth, and a promise to deliver nothing but the best in all the work that I do in the future. I guess I owe you one massive piece of cake chef and I hope this cake brings you some joy as much as it brings me.
