The life cycle of an arrangement.
Once a flower starts to wilt, do you consider the whole thing compost or do you make it last as long as possible? Some flowers last longer than others; it is usually the more expensive and delicate flowers that tend to be the fast faders! Here is a sample of one arrangement of leftover flowers that I took home. It was in a square ceramic container with floral foam to start and by the end, I had to get rid of the foam, cleaned the container, cut the few remaining stems and had them in plain water. Day 1 - delivery, Day 5 - roses and Ge**er daisy done, Day 9 - some of the greens, a rose, and the commercial mum were out, Day 14 - carnations…still going; alstroemeria removed. Day 18 - last stragglers; see how the colour has faded, but they are still looking pretty. By removing the spent flowers, you remove some of the bacteria that would affect the life of the other flowers.
