Coldsnap Presents Concert Series Returns with Dan Mangan, Blue Moon Marquee and Catherine MacLellan

This series promises to deliver unforgettable evenings of music, featuring poignant indie-folk, the foot-stomping blues, and heartfelt songwriting.

The series features the following performances:

Dan Mangan - Sept 12

2x JUNO Award-winning and 3x Polaris Music Prize-nominated musician and songwriter (and Coldsnap alum!) returns to Prince George as part of the cross-Canada National Light Tour. The ninth studio album for Mangan, Natural Light was released in 2025 and marks a return to folk music’s classic underpinnings of political resistance. A return to writing “song songs” that might be played around a campfire.

Blue Moon Marquee - Nov 7

Blue Moon Marquee write and perform original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. A.W. Cardinal (vocals/guitar) and Jasmine Colette (Jasmine Ohlhauser) a.k.a. Badlands Jass (vocals/bass/drums) have played for a vast gamut of crowds at jazz clubs, lindy hop dance halls, folk venues, blues haunts, hospitals, prisons, markets, motorcycle joints, dive bars and prestigious festival stages. The result of 9 years of rigorous crisscrossing Europe and North America is a distinct energy & style from this acclaimed duo.

Catherine MacLellan - Mar 27

Born and raised in the idyllic province of Prince Edward Island, Catherine's songs reflect her deep connection to the land and the people that call it home. Through it all, Catherine remains committed to the craft of songwriting and the art of connection. Whether she's playing to a packed theatre or an intimate gathering, Catherine's warm presence and heartfelt music create an unforgettable experience for all who hear her.

All three concerts will be held at the Knox Performance Centre, offering an intimate and exceptional setting for these remarkable performances.

The Prince George Folkfest Society is excited to announce the first of three concerts as part of the ”Coldsnap Presents” series at Knox Performance Centre (1448 5 Ave). This series promises to deliver unforgettable evenings of music and will begin with 2x JUNO Award-winning musician and songwriter (and Coldsnap alum!) Dan Mangan!

This marks the first time Mangan has performed in Prince George since 2010! Much has changed in that time and this acclaimed artist will truly shine at Knox Performance Centre.

This performance is a part of the National Light Tour. The ninth studio album for Mangan, Natural Light was released in 2025 and marks a return to folk music’s classic underpinnings of political resistance.

“A return to writing “song songs” that might be played around a campfire. Mangan has experimented rigorously with his sound over the years, but resting in his roots may be where he operates most effortlessly.

Over two decades, Mangan has managed an enviably strong creative ethic, and his integrity as both a singer and songwriter has only strengthened with age. The big picture cohesiveness of Natural Light harkens to a pre-streaming, album-focused sensibility. Songs bleed together through focused transitions and overlapping interludes. Mangan’s lyrics act as gondolier for the journey, reassuring the listener that it’s cool to care. Dan sings for his kids, for his wife, and for A society in existential crisis.”

The September 12th performance will act as fitting a kick-off to our 2026/27 season, featuring three “Coldsnap Presents” concerts throughout the year (more information to come!) and Coldsnap 2027 - the 20th annual Prince George winter music festival!
