Road to the Ring: Day 4
Bison Sloppy Joes are officially back on the menu.

Today I dug out an old favorite from my shelf: The Fighter's Kitchen.

Tomorrow's meal prep is going to be Bison Sloppy Joes as I get my nutrition back on track for this challenge.

I also stepped on the scale today.
197 lbs.

My goal is 165 lbs by September 1st.
That's 32 pounds to lose while preparing for the biggest physical challenge I've taken on in years.

Training today wasn't about pushing harder.
It was a DDP Yoga recovery day.
Mobility. Strength. Recovery.

At 41 years old, with one eye and joints that don't always cooperate, recovery isn't optional—it's part of the fight.
The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is stacking enough good days together to earn my shot.

Day 4 complete.
86 days until I see If I can earn my shot in the ring

I quit drinking in 2018.
Lost 60 pounds.

Got fit, got healthy, and decided I was going to train to be a pro wrestler.

Then COVID hit.
Then my joints started eating themselves — turns out I have psoriatic arthritis.

Bad knees, bad elbows, autoimmune disease.
Dream went on a shelf.
Fast forward to 2026. I get back into wrestling as a backstage interviewer.

Safe.
Smart.
And then the Carnage Coalition took out my eye.

So now I'm 41.
One eye.
Bad knees.
An autoimmune disease.
And I'm stepping into the ring anyway.

This isn't a gimmick.
This is what it takes.

Road to the Ring – Day 3
Today humbled me.

Going into this journey, I had this idea that I was going to be perfect every day.
The funny thing is... I already know from experience that's rarely how real change works.

Every journey has good days and bad days.
I tracked my breakfast. I got my workout done.
But lunch and supper? Not tracked. And yes... a Burger King Whopper made an appearance.

A few years ago, that would've been enough for me to throw in the towel and say, "Screw it, I'll start again Monday."
Not this time.

The biggest lesson I've learned is that success isn't built on perfect days.
It's built on the days when things don't go perfectly and you keep showing up anyway.

Day 3 wasn't perfect.
But I'm still moving forward.
87 days to go!

Why now?
In 2019, I had a plan to train.
I looked up Workhorse performance center
In Calgary.
I knew the address.
I knew the cost.
And I never went.

Then life hit.
COVID.
Bad knees.
A shoulder that wouldn’t move.
An elbow that felt wrecked.
And eventually… psoriatic arthritis.

For a while, I thought wrestling was over before it started.

So I found another way in — backstage interviewer. Close enough to the business to feel like I was part of it.

Then Carnage Coalition took my eye.
And everything changed.

Life doesn’t wait for your knees to feel better.
It doesn’t care about your age.
It doesn’t ask if you’re ready.

So now Van Hellion has given me one week to prove I can survive The Heavy Metal Physical.
No shortcuts.
No excuses.
Either I prove I can do this…
or I prove I can’t.
This is What It Takes.

Road to the Ring: Day 2
Day 2 is coming together.

I’m officially getting ready to go from backstage guy to stepping inside the ring — and today was all about recovery.

No ego.
No pretending I’m 25.
No acting like my joints are fine

Today I brought back something that helped me a lot before: DDP Yoga.
Mobility.
Flexibility.
Recovery.
Strength without destroying myself.

If I’m going to survive this 90-day road to the ring, recovery has to be part of the fight.
88 days to go.

Oh yeah and I'm bringing back avacado toast!
Another healthy breakfast down.

Remember it's never to late to make a change

Can I survive until September?
Follow the journey.
