While performing at events around the Okanagan, I often bump into couples who have had me as their wedding DJ. Last weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Joanne & Shawn at the - they have me booked for their upcoming wedding in September. It was great to share a few words with them and also to see them having so much fun cutting up the dance floor. I’m really looking forward to being a part of their special day!

I was minding my own business, walking down the street, when suddenly a flock of flowing caftans appears like a glamorous mirage. Bold prints. Sequins catching the sunlight like disco balls. Statement necklaces the size of dinner plates. And every single one of them radiating the exact same energy: “I have a drink in my hand, and I absolutely will say something inappropriate in the next 30 seconds.”

This was a coordinated effort. A movement. A squad. A company of Helens, if you will.

They moved with confidence. Unbothered. Slightly wine-fueled… I assumed. The air around them smelled faintly of Chardonnay and cheap perfume.

I don’t know where they were going, but I hope it was somewhere fabulous… and I hope Stanley wasn’t invited.

I had the pleasure of being the DJ at Lara’s wedding to Spencer last October… it was so great seeing her again this past weekend at the Okanagan Fest of Ale. She told me that she and Spencer have been fans of beard grooming products for quite some time, but they had no idea that their wedding DJ also makes their favorite beard oils!
