Florists vs. The Word “Simple” — A Love Story in Blooms 💍

Ask a bride what she wants for her bouquet and we’ll bet the farm she says, “Oh...something simple.” Cue the florist's deep, contemplative inhale.
Because “simple” can mean a few stems of baby’s breath or 45 pristine white roses, no greenery, no filler, hand-tied with silk ribbon flown in from Italy. You know—simple.

What brides say: “Just a small, simple bouquet.”
What they mean: An architectural wonder of imported and local florals with celestial vibes and unicorn-grade freshness.

“Simple” doesn’t always mean cheap either, which is also a misconception. In fact, some of the most understated designs require premium stems, delicate balance, and hours of design time to get that chic “I woke up like this” floral elegance.

So yes—we adore your simplicity. But simple is so personal, so also know it probably involves us to do a little more digging into colour, vibe, size, style, favourite and despised flowers and the expectation of the flowers you so simply desire!

At Pardon My Garden, we believe blooms deserve the same respect as fine art. That's why we're passionate about offering only the finest floral grades—and why we're thrilled to welcome as a seasonal partner! Their local, vibrant stems are the gold standard of freshness and quality, grown right here with care and intention.

Understanding Flower Grades:

Premium Grade – These are florist-exclusive stems: fuller heads, longer stems, vibrant colour, and the longest vase life. They’re the flowers your guests remember.

Mid Grade – Retail level blooms that are pleasant but often come with minor imperfections and shorter longevity.

Value Grade – Common in mass markets and supermarkets and Farmers markets. These blooms may be tired before they arrive, lacking in colour, shape, and shelf life. Often tinted, bleached or dyed, which we refuse to use.

We choose Premium Grade florals and store them in professional coolers that maintain the ideal balance of humidity and temperature. Grade Matters
Florist-grade flowers are the highest quality available, often hand-selected for freshness, colour, and longevity. Grocery store flowers, while convenient, tend to be lower grade—mass-shipped, minimally hydrated, and often bruised in transit.

Cooler Care Counts
Our blooms are stored in professional floral coolers—designed to preserve beauty and extend vase life. Unlike basic refrigeration in grocery stores, our coolers maintain ideal humidity, air circulation, and temperature to keep flowers vibrant and healthy.

Every stem in our shop is treated like a tiny masterpiece. delivered to us fresh up to 3x/week, we re-cut, hydrate, and condition them—prepping each bloom with care and intention.

🚗💐 Transporting Wedding Flowers Like a Pro 💐🚗

Moving your wedding flowers from the shop to the venue isn't just a drive—it's a flower-saving mission! Here’s how to make sure your blooms arrive looking fresh, full, and fabulous:

📦 Clear out the car – Start with an empty or spacious interior. Flower boxes need room to breathe (and not squish!). Make sure whomever is picking up for you knows this!!

💺 Flat surfaces are key – Transporting large arrangements like arch florals? A folded-down back seat or the bed of a covered pickup truck is your best bet.

🔒 Buckle up the blooms – If the arrangement allows, use seatbelts to gently secure boxes in place. Empty passenger seats come in handy here.

🌬️ Mist on the go – Keep a spray bottle or mister in the vehicle for quick refreshes before arrival.

Before your blooms take center stage, they need a little backstage care! Here’s how to protect your precious petals while they're waiting for the spotlight:

🚫 Skip the kitchen fridge – Home refrigerators produce ethylene gas (thanks, ripening produce), which can cause flowers to brown prematurely.

🍎 Avoid fruit & veggie bowls – Don’t set your arrangements near produce on counters either—the same gas is floating there too!

💧 Humidity matters – Our specialized floral cooler maintains high humidity, a key factor in flower longevity. Standard fridges? Not so much.

🐾 Keep out of reach – Curious pets and pint-sized humans are adorable... until they think your wedding bouquet is a chew toy or art project.

Treat your flowers like royalty before the big day and they’ll look regal when it’s time to walk down the aisle.
