When the call went out for a Bailey Chair for our Gus one of the first to answer the call was Haisha, who stated, about her husband Tim David, “My husband is a gifted carpenter & huge animal lover and owns Black Dog Cabinetry. As soon as he saw your request he said "Awww, I'll build him one.”
And so the project was on.
For those of you who don’t know Gus’ story (and how could you not?) he was born with a Persistant Right Aortic Arch…basically what was happening was he was slowly starving to death. To fix this he needed an emergency operation and unfortunately when he came into care he was about two months past when he should have had the operation so he was weak and in pretty rough shape…..we were not sure he would make it through the surgery. But Gus continually shows us what a figher he is!! The vets at Mill Bay Veterinary Hospital opened his chest from the left side, located the band of tissue obstructing poor Gus's esophagus, and transected it. We hope his esophagus will eventually shrink back down to normal size but for the time being, he will need assistance in feeding. He needs to eat sitting in an upright position so as not to choke and so we needed a Bailey Chair!! And today, we met with Tim David of Black Dog Cabinetry and picked up Gus’ new chair!! Thank you Tim for your kindness and helping us help GUS!!!!
