Maybe I'm being too honest here but I'm going to let you guys in on a little industry secret 👀 - NO FLORIST LIKES MAKING CORSAGES! 🫢

Phew, there I said it.

Ah, what a weight off my shoulders.

SO! I set out to change that with my first prom of the season last week - All Saints! Although some didn't like my new methods (and that's A ok!) I had enough orders to fill my day (and then some until midnight 🙃) and got to design FREELY! With whatever flowers I wanted!! And you know what?? Now I can look back on these photos and be proud of my work. I didn't make the same corsage even twice! All were stunning, custom mixes of the freshest and coolest flowers and foliage I could HAND PICK from my supplier. And you know what? Trusting your florist to do what they do best is a beautiful thing! I know, relinquishing control can be hard for some but when the outcome is this beautiful, I think you're better off just trusting the process 😉.

That being said - Earl of March grads, I'm so very sorry but I've had to cut off orders for you guys 💔! I know, I know, much earlier than I said but y'all are planning AHEAD this year! Fortunately though, if you still plan ahead, I'm sure one of the other talented local florists can help you out! 🥳

📣📣📣 ATTN All Saints Students!!! 📣📣📣

If you haven't ordered your corsage or boutonniere yet, put that on the TOP of your to do list! I likely will be cutting off orders by the end of the day Saturday. We have made ordering super easy for you! Just go online to [www.trilliumfloral.ca/collections/prom], tell us your colour scheme and we will design something one-of-a-kind for you!

Why are we not accepting specific flower types you ask⁉ Because prom is usually a young person's first experience with high quality flowers (assuming they're not getting their flowers from the grocery store!) so we want to make them special and unique! If we offered the "usual" (and you should know by now, there's nothing usual about us 😉) they would get roses and babies breath. Then when it's the next big occasion, what will they ask for? Yep, roses and babies breath.

I want to make their flowers memorable. When they go to order their wedding flowers 5-10 years later I want them to say "when I got my prom corsage, I gave the florist creative freedom and she killed it!".

Not...

"oh....I don't know too many flower types. I guess roses and babies breath as that's what I had at my prom."

Get where I am going with this? 😁

So trust your florist and let me do what I do best. CREATE! 💕

Did someone say funky corsages?!?! Nope, just me for the last 20 years 🤣. But this time I'm REALLY pushing it by only offering just that - no roses and babies breath, no "small and simple" (aka boooorrrrriiinnnnggg!!) - straight up funky, textury, quirky and fun flowers. If I'm going to be here til 1am making them, they need to be interesting! 🙃

Not only was it Mother's Day last weekend but today is Mom Boss' Birthday! And my parent's anniversary, and the long weekend, lol. So many things! It's a big milestone birthday too which she won't let me share 😆.

So please join me in wishing mamma bear a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🥳 - to the lady who not only passed down the shop to me but gave me the opportunity at a young age to learn a great work ethic, ever-so-slowly grow my confidence, become a great sales person, take the reigns on taking over the marketing side of the business and grow my creativity. Oh boy, it's taken me a couple days to regain my bearings here post Mother's Day! Thank you all for your orders over the weekend, we truly appreciate it! I also appreciate that everyone was in such a good mood and patient during those hectic times. I think we did pretty good at getting people in and out quickly! Of course a big shout out to my wonderful team - I couldn't have done it without you ❤️. And the wonderful drivers over at .ca who even got a honorable mention in one of our 5 star reviews! 🙌

Just a wee bit o' flowers this week wouldn't ya say?! 😆 It's a bit late for me to preach the whole pre-order thing BUT there is still time! If you are still interested in placing an order, please do so on our website! Everything is there and it prompts you for the exact same info I would ask you but this way, you can still be in your PJs! 😊

We will also be doing wrapped bouquets on the spot over the weekend, with my full team of wonderful seasonal helpers who make the day go so smoothly, making sure you're in and out quickly (if you've ever been in at Valentine's or Mother's Day you already know 😉). No premade, grocery store-esque bouquets here. We specialize in custom and that's why you come to us! 🤗

Only a few days late on this Valentine's wrap up post 😬!

I'm usually on the ball with a quick update post at the end of the day on the 14th or even the morning of but this Valentines TESTED ME! 🫠 By Thursday night I was the most exhausted I've ever been. I even paid one of my helping hands to stay later just to keep me awake (and she even cleaned off my car at 10:30pm!). I have learned a lot from previous Valentines and although I was very prepared as I always am, I overprepared in some ways and under in others. There were also a lot of unexpected occurrences - staff getting sick (Mom Boss almost missed a Valentine's Day!!), a monstrous snow storm which resulted in me sleeping at the shop Wednesday night, delivery issues, and me underestimating how much time certain tasks take! Big picture though - we got through it as we always do, my helping hands were awesome supports and worked double the amount I had schedule them for (thank you Hailey, Jackie, Ellen, Joan, mom and hubby 💕), we sold out of roses early (and disappointed quite a few men - for the last time PRE-ORDER!!!) and everyone was patient on the day (I mean, we had you in and out in a matter of minutes, who can beat that on Valentine's Day!).
..and on top of it all, this was our 25th Valentine's Day!! 🥳🥳🥳 It is so awesome that we have customers who have been with us from the beginning. We are so honored to be a part of your lives and love story! THANK YOU for entrusting us with your orders and allowing us to put a smile on your favourite person's face!

On that note, I have chosen to close today so I can get my own long weekend, recoup and do a major clean up! 🥴 Thanks all! ❤

Having been a home-based business for many years prior, owner Diane Boyd decided to expand her services to a full service flower shop catering to the Ottawa area.
