Since going viral with their L.A. Public Library performance of their song “Racist, Sexist, Boy,” the world has watched The Linda Lindas scream about injustice, sing about growing up and exhibit the kind of altruism that is so meaningful to the punk scene.

Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... The Linda Lindas!

The Linda Lindas are set to perform on the RBC Stage on Friday, July 18 at 7:30 PM.

While their evolution as writers, performers and studio geeks is clear on No Obligation, their ethos remain steadfast. The band has released three great album cuts so far, the anxiety-filled "Too Many Things," the scorcher "Revolution / Resolution," and the album’s addictive lead single "All In My Head". With all four musicians each contributing to the writing and lead-singing, the songs are as varied and dynamic as the girls themselves, however the listener always senses the underpinning of both their shared world-view and their bond. No Obligation, the second full-length album (released on October 11 via Epitaph Records) from The Linda Lindas further advances their unironic, joyful, and exciting trajectory of mashing up L.A. punk with post punk, garage rock, power pop, new wave and rock en español. Written and recorded by the band during spring breaks, winterbreaks, and long weekends (Lucia de la Garza and bassist Eloise Wongare still in high school, drummer Mila de la Garza just finished middle school, and Bela Salazaris patiently waiting for them to get done with it already), the new album has been in the works for the last two years whenever they weren’t at school or touring. The Linda Lindas most recently shared "No Obligation" - the ferocious title track. "I don’t got no obligation," roars Eloise Wongin the album’s opening song- "just brush off all expectation." From the first moment of their sophomore release, it is clear that The Linda Lindas are here to defy expectations and challenge the norms.

Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... Moontricks!

Moontricks will play on the LeBreton Stage on Thursday, July 17 at 8:15 PM.

Based in the rustic Kootenay mountains of Western Canada, Nathan Gurley and Sean Rodman of nationally renowned electro-folk duo Moontricks draw inspiration from the ongoing cycles of the natural world. Both volatile and constant—like nature’s best offerings—the band finds solace and beauty in the fusion of seemingly disparate elements.

There’s a kind of technicolor campfire quality to their uniquely hybrid sound: Each track is steeped in tradition and polished with a futuristic sheen, mixing organic folk, roots rock, and old-time blues with modern electronic production. Since its initial release, the band’s breakout hit “Home” has reached over 10 million streams, and their original tracks have been licensed for a wide range of television networks, including Netflix and Fox Sports.

With the release of their debut full-length album Currents via Westwood Recordings, the duo reveals an ever-evolving, cohesive blend of introspective writing, soulful, gritty blues, boot-stomping basslines, and intricate electronic arrangements. Vast, intimate, and dazzling, Currents is an album about settling into feeling comfortably lost, and being okay with not knowing it all. It’s about finding joy and inspiration in the act of seeking.

“Mysticssippi” Blues man Harry Manx has been called an “essential link” between the music of East and West, creating musical short stories that wed the tradition of the Blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas.

Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... Peach Pit!

Peach Pit will play on the River Stage at 9:15 PM on Thursday, July 17.

Through bad breakups, bouts of loneliness, existential crises, and even pandemics, true friends stick around. Instead of bending and breaking, their bonds crystallize in the roughest of rough patches. If friendship had a sound, it would be Peach Pit. The wistful grooves, glassy guitars, and sun-kissed melodies feel like they could only be made by musicians who have spent close to a lifetime (or at least half of their lives) together. The Vancouver quartet — Neil Smith [vocals, guitar], Chris Vanderkooy [guitar], Peter Wilton [bass], and Mikey Pascuzzi [drums]—trace their union back to high school. During 2016, they served up the self-titled single, “Peach Pit”, eclipsing north of 78 million total streams on Spotify. The group continued to gain traction with their 2017 full-length debut, Being So Normal. Among many highlights, “Tommy’s Party” and “Alrighty Aphrodite” both surpassed 79 million Spotify streams as the band graced the bills of festivals such as Shaky Knees Festival, Bonnaroo, M3F Festival, Sea Hear Now Festival, All Things Go Festival, Firefly Festival and many more. In 2020 Peach Pit revealed You and Your Friends, which DIY Mag hailed as “12 tracks of infectious indie-pop gems” while Atwood Magazine described the band as being “at the cutting edge of the alternative music scene.” Carrying this momentum into late 2021, they kicked off the next chapter of the band and their friendship with the single “Up Granville.”. To kick off 2022, the band released two singles entitled “Vickie” and “Look Out!” off of their highly anticipated new album From 2 to 3. The album was released on March 4th, 2022 with focus track “Give Up Baby Go.”

These Things Happen Too is the sequel to his debut LP, These Things Happen, and highlights G's growth since the 2014 breakout album. The 19-track album showcases G's multi-faceted artistry with a diverse, yet eclectic body of work, and marks his first full-length record since 2017's critically-acclaimed The Beautiful & Damned. Singer-guitarist D.K. Harrell has catapulted from a Blues artist with promise to one of the most sought-after musicians in the Blues realm.

Your Ottawa Bluesfest Featured Artist of the Day is... D.K. Harrell!

D.K. Harrell is set to perform not only once, but *twice on Wednesday, July 16: 7:00 PM on the LeBreton Stage & 9:30 PM at the Barney Danson Theatre.

His debut record, The Right Man on Little Village, won immediate critical raves worldwide upon its release in June 2023. In 2024, he was honored as Best Emerging Artist in the prestigious Blues Music Awards celebration held by the Memphis-based Blues Foundation. “I just love to play music for people, and to watch them share in the experience,” says Harrell. “I’ve always said that music is my voice.” The 26-year-old Harrell is a self-taught guitarist from Ruston, a rural community in Northern Louisiana. His first interest in the Blues occurred at age 11 after seeing the movie Cadillac Records, inspired by the harmonica sounds of Little Walter. But after picking up the harmonica, Harrell moved onto guitar at 13, exploring Blues from many angles until he discovered B.B. King. From that point on, Harrell devoted himself to the Blues and watched every B.B. King video he could find. He picked up on the subtleties and dynamics of King’s music that other people overlook. And, just as important, he tapped into the intangibles that made King the worldwide King of the Blues.
