Have you considered doing your first dance right after your grand entrance (when you come in the room)? Let me give you a couple reasons to consider and see what you think

1) All eyes are already on you two already
2) You are both nice and fresh, hair and makeup is at its best it's going to be all night now
3) You can relax during dinner instead of feeling nervous
4) Your photographer doesn't have to necessarily stay late to capture it
5) It's a nice way to kick off the evening part of your wedding day!

Most guests don’t hate wedding speeches… they hate bad ones. 😅

After planning 200+ weddings, here’s the sweet spot:
✨ Keep speeches to ~3 minutes (5 max)
✨ Cap it at 5 speeches max total (less is ok too!)
✨ Space them out, best IMO is while guests are eating a course so it flows and doesn't hold up food service
(and not during clearing of plates!! 🙏)

The longest speech I’ve ever seen? 47 minutes.
Yes… really. And no, your guests won’t forgive you.

The goal isn’t more time. It’s a better speech.
Heartfelt, a little funny, and leaving the couple feeling deeply loved, that’s it.

Save this for your wedding planning notes and send it to anyone giving a speech… they’ll thank you later.

As a Wedding Planner I'm always so tempted to just post the pretty but that part is so small in what I can offer (though it's the finish line - the wedding day!!)
The planning is 365 days or even for lots of our weddings it's over 700 days of planning with our couples!
And lots of tasks, fires we put out, emotions, stress, confirming on top of reconfirming, worrying we do, is not even seen by anyone. It's definitely not something I could list in a contract as a deliverable 😅

So just know that when you say YES to me and my team, we got you! We want you to have the BEST DAY EVER with your people.
And we work freaking hard to make your dreams a reality!
I'm leaning on daily on the 18+ years of "things gone wrong" to make sure I'm always planning for those strange unexpected wedding day issues I've seen over the years.

Being named Ottawa Wedding Planner of the Year again is something I don’t take lightly. To be recognized by my peers, the people who are in it with me every weekend, who understand what this work really looks like behind the scenes, means more than I can properly put into words.

Because this isn’t a popularity contest. It’s not about who can rally votes.

It’s being recognized by the vendors who see it all, the timelines, the pressure, the last minute pivots, the 36°C heat, the problem solving behind the scenes, and trusting that I’ll show up and handle it every single time.

That kind of respect means everything.

💕To the vendors who voted, thank you. Truly. I don’t take that lightly. I’m so proud to be part of a community that pushes each other, supports each other, and constantly raises the standard of what weddings can be.

Let me tell you about planning this tent wedding with this family that stole my heart

This impossible dream of a wedding for 150 people in the woods, by the lake at their beloved family cottage took 15 months of planning so many tiny, meaningful details.

No guest will remember how they felt being a part of this day and our couple and their family still say all the time “take us back!”

The number of emails, texts, DMs with all of our ideas buzzing between us resulted in a magical day that took an enormous amount of effort and heart to pull together.

A huge and wonderful vendor team and over a week of on site set up and take down to build the most beautiful “venue” at this family’s dream location, their cottage.

The behind the scene work from the vendor team but also the family was truly an undertaking but the result was perfection.

Pricing transparency coming in HOT 🔥

Last year I shared the average spend across our weddings… and you guys gave me some math feedback.  So this year, some categories are averages, and some are ranges.

You already know I’m not gatekeeping over here.

And the truth is understanding your budget doesn’t have to feel scary. It can actually be one of the most freeing parts of planning.

Yes, money can feel like a taboo topic. But as a planner it’s a conversation I’m having every single day with my couples, their families, and their vendors.

Because here’s the reality: this is likely the only wedding you’ve ever planned… so why would you know what things cost?

Couples go into planning with expectations based on what they’ve seen online and then feel completely blindsided when real quotes start coming in.

It’s like building a house.
You wouldn’t just know what a foundation costs… or framing… or that dream kitchen you’ve been saving on Pinterest.

And yet with weddings, you’re expected to just… figure it out.

You’ll see “average wedding costs” thrown around with zero context.
You’re constantly shown multi-day wedding weekends and over-the-top installations so much that it starts to feel like the norm.
And then the same blogs and magazines showcasing million-dollar weddings will turn around and tell you the average wedding is $40K.

It’s confusing. And honestly? Misleading.

BUT once you understand what things actually cost, everything shifts.

You make better decisions.
You plan more intentionally.
And you feel in control of the process instead of overwhelmed by it.

So let me show you what the weddings you see on my Instagram really cost based on real client choices and real local vendor pricing.
Because we need more open, honest conversations about this.
Budget doesn’t have to be a bad word 🤍

Brides: this is exactly when to bustle your dress (and why it matters) ❣️
• Keep your train down for your ceremony + photos
• Bustle before cocktail hour (if you’re mingling)
• Be bustled before your grand entrance
• Be bustle before your first dance
Because in reality? Guests step on it, you’re kicking fabric around, and it stops feeling magical fast. It also honestly gets extremely dirty!!
The key: plan a moment to bustle before your reception really begins. Put it in your timeline if you don't have a Planner who's going to remember.

Bonus tip: those tiny loops + hooks/buttons break all the time so ask your seamstress for something more secure. Ribbons under your dress ( French bustle) are THE BEST!!! So easy and secure and colour coded is even better.
