If you have stopped buying plants because your cat treats every new one like a snack, this is for you.

We get asked about pet safe plants all the time, so here are the ones we have in the shop right now.

Every plant in this carousel is safe if your cat or dog has a nibble. Not toxic, not a trip to the vet, just green.

Calathea rattlesnake and orbifolia for pattern and a bit of drama. String of turtles if you want something small that trails. A money tree if you want full and forgiving. Ferns for the bright bathroom. Air plants if you are done with soil altogether.

We always tell people the same thing. Safe does not mean you want them eaten, it means you can relax if it happens.

Hosting season is coming up.

It creeps up. One dinner in late September, then somebody's birthday, then Thanksgiving weekend, and by the time the holidays land you are hosting properly and wondering how it happened.

So here is what we suggest when planning the florals for your table.

Keep it low. Whatever goes in the middle needs to sit under eye level, so people can see each other across it. Every year somebody turns up with something beautiful and enormous and it spends the whole evening on the sideboard because nobody can talk past it.

We build ours low for that reason, and suggesting delivery the day before, so it is one less thing on the day.

We get asked for "something nice" a lot, and we will always make something nice. But if the person you are buying for has strong opinions, or a bit of an edge, or would honestly rather have something unusual than something safe, tell us that.

It is fun for us, and it is far more like person you are giving them too.

Send us a message and describe them to us in a sentence or two. We will know what to do with it.

So many beautiful flowers in the shop this week! From stunning cosmos to fragrant stock, cheerful gerberas to our fall favourite dahlias. Almost as many flowers as there are reasons to send them. First week of school, new baby arrival, retirements, Rosh Hashanah, anniversaries, birthdays and just because! This weekend is Rosh Hashanah and Grandparents Day! 2 sweet reasons to send flowers.

Before the pretty pictures, there is this. Boxes of fresh flowers, buckets everywhere, and a whole lot of snipping.

Almost every flower day at the shop is a beautiful kind of chaos. Every stem gets unpacked, sorted, cleaned, and given a long cool drink before it ever earns a spot in the cooler. It is busy mornings and cold water and leaves all over the floor, and we would not trade it for anything. This is the unglamorous magic behind every bouquet you take home.

Roses: classic, romantic, you know exactly what you like.

Sunflowers: you light up the room before you even say anything.

Tulips: low key confident, memorable without even trying.

Ranunculus: detail oriented, a little extra in the best way, great taste.

Peonies: full hearted, a little dramatic on purpose, believer in grand gestures.

Wildflowers: you don’t love rules, happiest when things feel a little undone.
