Five years ago Ottawa held its very first Fishing Festival.
The festival was 2 days long and it was a great time for everyone.
Although we will not be hosting a fishing festival this summer, we invite you all to join us tomorrow for a fun evening of Fishing:

Happy Canada day everyone!!!
We hope you celebrate today with your loved ones and take advantage of the beginning of license free fishing week!

For Thursday next week, we will be giving away 20 kid's fishing rods to the first 20 kids under the age of 13.

As you know, we will not be hosting a fishing festival this summer. HOWEVER, the organizers of the Ottawa Fishing Festival will be heading down to Brewer Park next week for some casual fishing and would love if you could join us. Below are the details:
Date: Thursday, July 6th
Time: 4pm
Location: Brewer Park, Ottawa ON

We would be really happy if you could all spread the word and come out for a fun and relaxing evening of casual fishing.
Since next week is the beginning of License Free Fishing Week, you WILL NOT need a fishing license to participate: http://www.ontariofamilyfishing.com/
PS: The main organizer of the festival has quite a few brand new fishing rods that he would like to give away to children that come out fishing (number of rods to be determined).

Thank you all for your continuous interest in the Ottawa Fishing Festival.
Unfortunately this year we will not be hosting a festival.

Please stay tuned as we are hoping to host one in 2018. In the mean time, we encourage you to continue using our Facebook Fan Page as a platform to share any tips, stories, pictures, or anything fishing related. We really enjoy the community we have built thus far and want to continue with it.

WOW! It's already been two years since the Ottawa Fishing Festival took place for the first time here in Ottawa. Unfortunately it was not possible to host an event on 2013 and the same goes for 2014. Time has been the biggest obstacle in planning the event, but we are looking forward to having one in 2015. We cannot express how much we appreciate all the people that constantly show their support by writing to us inquiring about the festival.
We will do our very best to keep all of you informed with any updates pertaining to the event.
In the meantime, please feel free to use this page as a place to share your pictures, videos, stories and fishing tips.

Hello everybody,
First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who has shown support and interest in the Ottawa Fishing Festival by liking our fan page. The reason for this message is to inform you that unfortunately we will not be able to host a festival this summer. The reason for this is that the main organizer of the fishing festival (Dr. Ben Fong) has been very busy with the construction and relocation of his dental practice (Herongate Dental) and therefore has not had sufficient time to plan the event that was supposed to take place this summer.
On another note, please do continue to use our fan page for sharing any videos, pictures, or stories that are related to fishing. We read all the comments and love seeing pictures and videos!
We look forward to hosting the 2014 Ottawa Fishing Festival. See you all then!

Hello everybody! It sure has been a while since we’ve posted something here. We hope you have all had a somewhat decent winter. For those of you that have not done any fishing since the summer, it is time to start to getting out your rods!
We thought you might enjoy this picture, let us know what you think!

Hello everybody. I came across something very interesting and thought of sharing it with all of you. This is archosargus probatocephalus (aka sheepshead). It is a fish that has several rows of stubby teeth. From what I can see, its front teeth are identical to human teeth. It's amazing!
Seeing this photo made me think, it would be really interesting if some research and development can be done to utilize the genetic similarities of this species.

As you may already know, the winner of the $500 cash prize for the youtube contest was Shaolin Kung Fu Centre!!!
