Tonight, gracing your feed with this gorgeous fall wedding. ✨

When A + D got married on September 27th, they celebrated their story in a deeply intentional and authentic way.

Their nearest and dearest surrounded them during the ceremony, where they professed their love for one another on the grand stage at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.

Family members infused their love and intentions for the couple with a Ring Warming ritual. These rings were presented to the couple before their spoken wedding vows, which were carefully crafted by each partner.

The couple led their ceremony guests to their intimate restaurant reception in true wedding recessional style through the streets of Ottawa.

Festivities culminated with an Italian Ribbon Ritual, il rito del nastro, where the couple is wrapped with fabric or ribbons, symbolically representing the binding of their lives together with the love and support of their community.

So much love, celebration, and joy woven into every aspect of this threshold.

Last night, I led a ' Closing the Year' ritual to honor the past twelve months and to welcome a fresh beginning. It felt especially meaningful because it was the first time my mother, who is newly retired from her nursing career, was able to join me.

Together, we reflected on each month of the past year, acknowledging what no longer serves us, revisiting the highs and lows we experienced: uncertainty, challenge, opportunity connection, chaos, bittersweetness, rest, healing and recovery, creativity, joy and play.

From the course, ' A Year of Seasonal Ceremony' with , I drew my twelfth and final intention for the upcoming year:

Strengthening Relationships.

It felt like a beautiful reminder and a natural extension from the word I chose last year:

Belonging.

I selected ' Belonging' during my 2024 ' Closing the Year' Ceremony' with .perth .

The word has helped me nurture the projects closest to my heart this past year, making space for new seeds to grow as I look towards strengthening relationships.

✨️She personalized the ceremony for us...✨️

When Anna and Dan renewed their wedding vows on the 25th year of their anniversary in early October, they celebrated the occasion in their most sacred space, their home surrounded by their family and cherished friends.

So much love, gratitude, and joy to this couple and their family's for trusting me with the acknowledgment and celebration of this important threshold.

✨️ Winter Solstice ✨️

Last evening, we gathered to acknowledge the Winter Solstice.

We gathered from different parts of Eastern Canada to honor the longest night ( and shortest day) of the calendar year.

We wrote one intention in darkness that we look forward to in the coming months of spring and the return of warmth and light.

We held our intention in winter bundles we created with evergreen branches, dried herbs, flower petals, and fabric.

And we fastened them together to keep them safe for the Spring Equinox.

We created a seasonal altar to represent and honor the four-legged ones, evergreen trees, Holly, mistletoe, and foods of the season.

On our seasonal altar, we lit the sun candle and continued to light smaller candles in a spiral shape from the sun candle, representing the beauty and brightness of what is to come.

✨️Gulbiena✨️

Pronouciation: 'Jul- been -ah'

Gulbiena or vetches is a type of plant that successfully grows and regenerates without light.

They are traditionally planted between November 29 and December 8th to begin and prepare for the Advent season.

In full bloom, they are long white grasses with green tops and in the Maltese tradition decorate the Christmas Crib each year.

Like this plant that grows and generates in darkness, we too require darkness to rest, grow, and regenerate.

As we approach the shortest day (and longest night🌙) of the year, we hold space for the importance darkness brings as we await the gradual return of light and warmth in the northern hemisphere.

✨️ Birthday Festivities ✨️

It's a double posting day!!

We're acknowledging this busy weekend with a look at birthday festivities from early December.

November 29 took us to the lovely town of Almonte, where we enjoyed a very tasty lunch at , followed by antique shopping and Christmas markets.

Evening festivities were followed by a truly dazzling and spectacular marble buttercream cake from . Which was paired with a night of glorious boardgames.

Shout out to both and for helping us acknowledge these special moments.

In the trifecta of festivities, dear sister, this one takes the cake 🎉🎉🎉

It's a time in the calendar year that marks the shortest day (and longest night) of the year, marking the beginning of winter.

It's a time when we acknowledge the gradual return of light in the stillness of the dark.

And it's arrived early in Ottawa with two back to back snow storms last week!! ⛄️

Most importantly...

it's a time for rest and replenishment as we enter a period of renewal and hope.

It's a special week for Nicole Sammut Ceremonies...

I step out of my usual role as Life Cycle Celebrant and Officiant into a new one...wedding guest and Maid of Honor for my sister's big day. ❤️
