A great "something old" idea for a Bride is to attach a cherished piece of jewelry, perhaps from her Mother of Grandmother, to her bouquet wrap.

Another great wedding tradition is the Wedding Cake. Legend use to say that any single lady at a wedding who took a piece of cake home and slept with it under her pillow would dream of her future spouse. I believe I may have done this as a young girl.

Those Royals, William and Harry know a bit about including sentiment when choosing an engagement ring. Both of them paid tribute to their Mother when presenting their fiances with rings. Kate wears Diana’s ring- and Megan’s ring was designed by Harry using diamonds from a brooch of his Mothers.

Many stories exist about the history of the wedding ring but one of the sweetest is why the ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. In Egyptian times they believed there was a vein that ran from the fourth finger directly to the heart. Is it true? I don't know, but it has made for an enduring custom. 😉

It is fun to trace the roots of some of our most treasured wedding traditions. The lore of the Bridal Shower is said to have started back in the days when weddings were arranged by family members. A poor Dutchman fell in love with a girl whose father refused her a dowry. So they would still be able to marry their friends showered the bride with enough gifts to provide her dowry. This gave the couple what they needed to start their life together.

Hey Everyone, this is my new venture, I have completed my training and now I am legally able to marry couples in Ontario. I was inspired after helping some friends with their wedding this fall. Looking forward to this new opportunity to connect with people and be part of their special day.
