The DeWinton Kids & Moms Closet Clean Out event took place on October 18 at the DeWinton Community Hall, bringing together 34 vendors offering pre-loved items, including children’s clothing, toys, baby items, and women’s clothing. We welcomed just under 140 visitors throughout the day, providing an opportunity for families to shop sustainably, find affordable items, and connect with their local community.
The event was organized and run entirely by volunteers, and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who contributed their time, energy, and support to help make the day possible.
A special thank-you goes to It Takes a Village, which provided donation bins at the event to collect baby items for families in need. When their team came to collect the donations, they shared how moved they were by the incredible outpouring of generosity from our community. It was truly heartwarming to see so many people willing to donate baby items and help support local families.
I would also like to thank the DeWinton Community Hall for providing the space, all of our vendors for participating, and everyone who came out to shop and support the event. We are so appreciative of the local businesses and community members who helped spread the word through 26 local Facebook groups, social media shares from local businesses, and posters displayed throughout surrounding communities.
The goal of the Closet Clean Out was to create an affordable, community-focused event that encouraged reuse, supported local families, and brought people together. Seeing the generosity and support from the community made all the organizing worthwhile.
Thank you again for helping share our event with the community. We hope to bring the Closet Clean Out back in the spring!
