Your save the date has one job.

Most of them are doing four. Registry, RSVP, dress code, a hashtag, sometimes a QR code to a honeymoon fund. All on a card whose only purpose is to tell people to keep a day free.

Here is the order. The save the date holds the date. The invitation says who is invited. The website carries everything else.

Get the first one wrong and there is no fixing it. You cannot un-send a save the date.

Two hundred cards is two hundred seats already promised. The invitation cannot undo it, and neither can your mother adding four more names in March.

So before a single card goes out, two columns. Send, or hold. If a seat depends on someone else declining, that name waits.

The letter in this video is twenty six years old. What it still gets right is that everything a guest needed sat on one page, and that it said plainly what a save the date actually is.

I was born on a Wednesday. Fifty years later, my 50th birthday also fell on a Wednesday.

After a difficult three years, I had no intention of celebrating. Then, with only two weeks to go, I chose to celebrate what God had brought me through.

Years of event planning helped me create two milestone birthday celebrations in just two weeks. The first was this Thanksgiving Brunch on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

The Praise Fiesta followed on Saturday. That story is coming next.

Tomorrow, I turn 52. Looking back, my heart is full.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping me. 💜

It became more than a birthday brunch. It was my way of thanking God for keeping me. And He surrounded me with love through my village, the family and friends who showed up, stood beside me and celebrated life with me.

In 2014, I was still finding my feet in Canada, and my 40th birthday was my first event in Oakville.

I designed the cake to tell my story because, for me, details should never be there just for show. They should mean something.

Tomorrow, I turn 52. Looking back at these photographs, I can see that although my style has evolved, the way I approach event planning has not. I still begin with the person and build the celebration around their story.

That remains at the heart of my work as an Oakville event planner with Teantona Event Connoisseurs, creating personal milestone birthday celebrations across Ontario.

Above all, I thank God for keeping me.

Five years later, and the joy is still right there. 🤍

Some weddings deserve to be remembered in more than one way. The polished portraits, the spontaneous moments, the energy you didn’t plan for but would never want to forget.

This one had all of it.

Happy 5th wedding anniversary to a beautiful couple. 🥂✨

And yes, we were creating wedding content before “wedding content creator” was even a thing. 😉
