✨ Kitchen Stories — Moldovian Dinner

Another beautiful project added to my apron’s memory: a Moldovian dinner crafted for a wine‑tasting evening.
Thanks to my client, I got the gentle push I didn’t know I needed — a nudge out of my comfort zone and into a menu full of new techniques, old traditions, and bold, rustic flavors.

Golden mămăligă sat on the table like a small sun, soft and warm, ready to be paired with everything around it. Smoky mititei sizzled on the grill, filling the kitchen with that unmistakable aroma that makes you pause. The sarmale were tucked tightly, little parcels of patience and comfort, slow‑braised until they practically melted. The plăcintă came out with crisp edges and a tender center, disappearing the moment it landed. And the vertiti — delicate spirals of dough wrapped around savory filling — added that extra touch of tradition, the kind of dish that feels both humble and celebratory at once.

It was a feast of texture, tradition, and curiosity — a reminder that stepping into something new can taste incredibly familiar, like discovering a memory you didn’t know you had.

Lunch After a Christening

Some clients linger in your heart the way certain scents stay in a kitchen — soft, warm, impossible to forget.
It isn’t their words, or even the brief moments we share.
It’s the quiet energy they carry.
Gentle. Grounded. Familiar in a way that tugs at something old inside you.

Today’s christening lunch was one of those moments.
I couldn’t be there in person, but as I packed each dish, I felt the room I wouldn’t see - the low hum of family voices,
the sweetness of a baby's new beginning settling over the table like two sunlight.

I imagined the steam rising when they lifted the lids,
the way the herbs would bloom in the warmth,
the way the roasted vegetables would release that cozy, caramel smell that always reminds me of childhood kitchens - the ones where love lived in pots and pans, not words.

Even from afar, I felt folded into their celebration.
As if the food carried a small piece of me into the room,
quietly taking a seat at the table I couldn’t join.

Some meals you cook. Some meals you witness.
And some - like this one - you feel with all your senses, even from a distance.

This one will stay with me, warm and glowing, for a long time.
