We often hear “I want our wedding to feel like an intimate dinner party, even though we have 100+ guests.” We love helping our clients create experiences that reflect this. So how do we (and can you) create an intimate dinner party environment at your wedding of 100+ guests? Below are a few of our tips.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keep the table setting simple. Avoid tall floral centrepieces and instead fill the table with flickering candlelight and a great place setting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Seat guests at long tables and plan a break in the table every 16-24 ft so guests can move around the room freely. Round tables are commonly associated with corporate events. Long tables, even when seating up to 200 guests, create a warmer environment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our number one tip? SIT AMONG your guests. If you want your wedding to feel truly intimate, sit at a table in the middle of the room, surrounded by your guests, rather than a one sided head table on display.

Finally, we will also suggest you consider family style dining (where platters of food are placed on the table for guests to share and serve themselves from) or a shared starter such as a charcuterie platter, if you are serving a plated meal. Sharing food is a simple way to start conversation and invite guests to get to know one another.

Staircase of dreams by for this past weekends wedding at the historic . Built in 1908, the castle and it's beautiful gardens will have you feeling like you've been transported to Europe, though it's just 20 minutes from downtown Victoria, B.C. We've planned both grand receptions for 200 on the lawn (tented), and intimate dinners for 50 inside the castle. If you are looking for a "fairytale" venue, this is it. I couldn't wait to share at least some of the details from E&R’s day, but keep in mind this is just an iphone picture and what captured will truly show it off!

Our last wedding of 2019 and it truly was a fairytale! Congratulations to Elly and Rob who were married this past weekend at Hatley Castle in Victoria! With all guests travelling to the wedding, the tone was set with a luxurious stay at The Fairmont Empress in downtown Victoria. Guests received welcome gifts full of local provisions and enjoyed the changing fall leaves and views of the beautiful harbour. On the wedding day guests boarded shuttles to Hatley Castle and were greeted with mulled wine and hot cider upon arrival. Elly and Rob said I do in the gardens, and dined and danced inside the castle until the early morning. It was a beautiful wedding and a wonderful way to complete our season. Thank you to the team that made the day truly spectacular. 📷

While final preparations are underway for a special wedding in Victoria this weekend, we can't help but pause to look at the amazing wedding photos that have hit our inbox this week, including this kiss after T&D’s ceremony. When planning time for photos on your wedding day, consider the fact that it may be the moments in between you want to remember most. Stop and kiss, hug your mom, be in the moment, and allow your photographer to capture the real you on your wedding day. 📷

It’s an art. Floral design “trends” have evolved immensely over the past couple of years and while will always (always!) love a classic, loose, garden style bouquet, the artful and modern designs by have also stolen our heart. This beautiful piece was from J&J’s modern wedding (and it has orchids, previously on my “no” list, we are all evolving!). What is your favorite floral style? 📷
