So excited to announce my first workshop date!
This workshop will consist of a few parts.
Each person will create a beautiful floral arrangement and learn basic knowledge of flowers, followed by the paint side of the workshop where each person will be painting a portrait on canvas of the flowers they just created led by a local artist.

Here to finally introduce myself…

I am Havalah, I was born and raised in North Bay.
I have lots of siblings that make my life so much more fun as well as a dog named Macabee.
I’m a lover of all things beautiful.
My favourite color is pink! I’m sure you can tell by the flowers on my page and more than anything in the world I love being creative.

I have always been drawn to the idea of working for myself and have had an entrepreneurial spirit since a young age. Probably since I was a child actually when I would set up carnival games or candy shops out on the front lawn to entertain my younger brothers. I was always coming up with ways to make money, picking blueberries & wildflowers, buying candy at the candy store down the street only to resell for more to my siblings, helping with chores around the property etc. What more can you do at that age right. 😜

I definitely never thought I would be doing floral arrangements. It all just randomly happened during covid. I had way more time on my hands being confined to my home and I thought, I want to try something new.

On my to do list of things to try ⬇️
1: Candle making
2: Pottery
3: Flower arranging

Turns out I chose to start with number three, flower arranging. I went to the grocery store and bought some flowers and went to the dollar store for supplies. I’m not going to say I’m a natural at it because I still have soooo much to learn but my first arrangement took only about five minutes and came easy for me and I thought it looked absolutely stunning. I made a few more arrangements before I took a break. I had some friends that stopped by my house later that day. When they saw my work they were like, “These are so nice! I want one of these, can I buy one?” From there, they posted photos on Instagram tagging my personal account and I had messages flooding in from people wanting to order their own arrangement. I decided to run with it and here we are almost a year since I started and I’m loving it.

F L O U R I S H

In the beginning coming up with a name for your business can be hard. (Actually I feel like this is the hardest part 😂) I had probably over twenty names to choose from yet nothing stuck with me where I was like this will sound nice ten years down the road or I won’t get bored writing this name down or seeing it over and over again. I know it may sound dumb but even when your designing logos and using fonts sometimes letters don’t look the way you want them to.
Anyways, I have one of those turquoise cruiser bicycles I had just bought a few weeks earlier and I decided to go for a cruise to clear my head while I debated names. While I was out on this bike ride I glanced down and there was the smallest sticker on the body of the bicycle that I hadn’t noticed before and it said flourish. I stopped biking to look down and make sure I wasn’t crazy and as clear as day that was what it said. Well that was the only sign I needed to register my business name as Flourish later that day.

In the first place I had chosen this one word for my business because I felt it was meaningful to me. My mom always told me whatever you do in life you will flourish at.
I also feel like the word itself is so fitting for flowers. They start from a small seed and end up flourishing into a beautiful flower. Sure it takes lots of work in between to get there, what doesn’t, but at the end of the day it’s all so worth it. It definitely is not all sunshine and rainbows when running a business there’s endless hours of hard work and many things you don’t realize until you have already decided to take the plunge. In the end my hope is always that I will grown and flourish. The word itself is a constant reminder for me not to give up when things feel overwhelming in the business world. 🌸
